Re: The end of Adobe Flash Player, and how to continue using it

I know you only referred to it in a single sentence, but ActiveX is not actually a plugin. It's the framework that's used to embed plugins in Internet Explorer. The IE versions of Flash, Shockwave etc. all use it. It's just that this technology is also used for a lot of single purpose plugins that s...

Re: In your opinion, what is your least favorite level of the Wonderland Adventures triology

I think the intention with Avalanche Alley was to force players to avoid pressing the buttons. It totally failed at that however because you can easily survive the Spikeyball avalanche by either freezing one of them or just hiding out on the other side of the water. WA's level design generally has m...

Re: Possible Fan Translation Project

What do you mean by "of really any language?" If language doesn't matter, then does that mean you would merely take care of the technical side of things while having someone else provide the translation? If you were planning to use machine translation, then stop that thought right there. That's not ...

Re: Information on Krabby Quest

Well, that was certainly unexpected. Don't think this is the ideal time to reverse-engineer the game, though. Assuming Patrick releases the RTW source code at some point like he said he would, it should give a lot of insight into the inner workings of Krabby Quest, even if it lacks the parts exclusi...

Re: Unused content in MOFI and POTZ

I took a closer look at the linked page. It seems to be a draft for a TCRF article about WA. Its author probably put it in his user page while he was working on it, but never finished it. There is some interesting information there, but it also spoils the existence of a certain WA secret with the in...

The page you linked to contains spoilers for that secret that shall not be named.

Also, a topic like this would be better off discussed somewhere else. If you know about the secret, you should know where. In fact, you can already find more information about this there.

Re: In your opinion, what is your least favorite level of the Wonderland Adventures triology

Yeah, Mystery Island is definitely the worst of the whole trilogy. Unlike the other three levels, there's no legitimate challenge whatsoever, it's the closest thing Wonderland has come to trial and error. I did solve it, but it probably took almost two hours (that was on my third 100% playthrough o...

I believe Chompers had firetrap immunity as well in WA. Something should be done about this at some point for the sake of better compatibility with the game.

Re: New computer (Win 10, Nvidia GPU), RTW problems

If RTW ends up going down the same route as WA and is eventually open-sourced and ported, that would probably end up fixing this problem. Whatever the cause it is unlikely to remain after such drastic changes. But I imagine that won't be happening anytime soon.

Re: New computer (Win 10, Nvidia GPU), RTW problems

I vaguely remember reading a post here ages ago (probably over 10 years) by another user who had this problem. So this isn't without precedent. That's all I can say, though. As far as I remember, that user didn't find a solution. If I recall correctly, they never actually asked for help about it. Th...

Re: What is the official website for Krabby Quest?

I'm not so sure about that. I doubt the RTW source code will include the portions of the code that are exclusive to KQ, so those would have to be reverse-engineered. Don't know how easy that would be.

Re: What is the official website for Krabby Quest?

Doesn't look like it. There are no longer any Spongebob games on Shockwave's site. The game seems to have been pulled from everywhere. And yeah, there are obviously still some ways to play this game even if you haven't purchased it. But none of them can be discussed here. Even the unauthorized distr...

Re: What is the official website for Krabby Quest?

Where did you ever get the impression that abandonware is legal to download? Most of it isn't. A game's copyright doesn't expire when its publisher stops distributing it, even if it should. Chances are none of us will live to see the day where this game can be legally obtained again. This happens a ...

Re: Wonderland Level Converter

I'm a bit confused what the purpose of this is. To the best of my knowledge, RTW's editor can already update levels from older RTW versions. The only thing it can't read correctly is the LV1 format (which this tool apparently can't do either at the moment). So am I correct in assuming the only thing...

Wouldn't any run in which you use this technically be a TAS? I don't think you can use something like that under conventional speedrun rules.

Not sure how you managed to skip that one, but to my understanding, the game can make Morklin grant you access to the Rainbow Pool at two different points. You must either complete The Red Shard while having four shards or Thwart the Thwarts while having three. (The reason why only three are require...

That's not what you said your objective was. Thanks to a variety of glitches, you don't need all seven shards to beat the game.

Re: I am completing a minium star run of the original wonderland adventures. I have a quick question.

If you're willing to make use of glitches, the latest WA speedrun from this topic shows what is probably the route that requires the fewest stars possible. IIRC, it does use wall-blinking on a few occasions, but I don't think this allows bypassing any adventures. WA speedruns can be pretty hard to f...

What are you talking about? You said this was your site. So you're the one who should edit the link. Because of the "&t=5886s" part at the end of it, anyone who clicks on it will start the video at 1:38:06 rather than at the beginning. That's what should be removed.

Re: all wonderland adventurs final secrets leaked onto youtube.

I took a quick look at the secret content in his videos and didn't find it to be all that problematic, but that depends on which secrets you consider to be taboo to reveal to outsiders. Now I think everyone who knows WA's secret would agree that it shouldn't be shown to the public, but while his WA ...

Re: Midnight Synergy Games Collection Released

Yes, but it's far from lossless. The MP3 format already doesn't have the best reputation when it comes to quality, and to make matters worse, these MP3 files have a fixed bit rate of 128 kbps. Audiophiles would consider such a level of quality unacceptably poor.

Re: Midnight Synergy Games Collection Released

If you have the classic trilogy, then you already have a lossless copy of its soundtrack. The games play the source files themselves. They're among the many res#.dat files. If you open those with a module tracker like OpenMPT or a music player that supports such formats (I think I recall VLC Media P...
