Last Call for WA2:MOFI submissions
Hi all,
just a quick reminder that if you wanted to be involved in WA2, you need to send me an example level in the next little while (by end of April would be great, although you could still join a little later, if necessary).
I'll be going through the submissions so far in a bit, so expect e-mails in a week (?) or so.
And in case you don't know what I'm talking about:

Best,

I'm not sure yet what it will be called.Com Rante wrote:Boy, what a long wait!
Strange though, did you add a "2" to the title?
Options are
Wonderland Adventures: Mysteries of Fire Island
Wonderland Adventures 2: Mysteries of Fire Island
Wonderland Adventures Chapter 2: Mysteries of Fire Island
Wonderland Adventures Episode 2: Mysteries of Fire Island
etc etc etc
(the last two indicate that there might be others - I have at least a third one planned out (and perhaps one day I'll leak the title, which is already set) - and some ideas for a fourth one. Should be all ready by ... oh... 2015. )
I'd go for "Wonderland Adventures 2: Mysteries of Fire Island"Midnight Synergy wrote:Options are

My favourite is "Wonderland Adventures: Mysteries of Fire Island" because adding a 2 is something that too many game series do. You should make a poll for this.Midnight Synergy wrote:I'm not sure yet what it will be called.Com Rante wrote:Boy, what a long wait!

Uh oh, are you beginning to get game maker's block?Midnight Synergy wrote:Nah, just refering to the fact that I'm taking more and more time to get new games out.mqdar wrote:

EDIT: Well you could say that it means every next game that comes out will be more and more exciting.

As a fellow game designer *ahem*wannabe*ahem* I can relate to how you plan ahead of time what games you might be willing to tackle.
When it comes to naming the new game, it all depends on how the game relates to the previous installments. If the stories presented in the games lead directly into each other, creating a bigger picture of a story, you might want to add a "2" to the title, showing that the games have a certain order based on their placement in the storyline. If the games however have different, non-related stories using the same universe, you will be better off without using the "2", as for if it is miss-used it can seem as if the game is purpusfully using the number "2" as marketing device.
BTW, taking more time to make a game is a sign of an increase in the investment and work that you put into a game, usually resulting in a product of high quality.

I can definetly say it IS hard to sometimes come up with a new title for a game. Even SEGA and Nintendo did it.
I'm not sure about Nintendo, but SEGA did it at least twice.
For the titles of my games (some still haven't even left remote unwritten ideas), for sequels I just add the next number and then a random short sentence.
No examples. Not yet, at least

I think it will have some sort of "2" somewhere.
The second game does continue the story (after all, the glowing red sky and disappearing pirate ship was hinted at in Episode 1 and is the starting point of the rescue expedition to Fire Island). The third game - as planned right now - actually starts just moments after the end of the second... hmm, what could that mean???
