WA: MOPI [Being Ported, Download Removed, Old Thread]

Post by jdl » Sat Mar 24, 2012 5:35 pm

I have removed the download from my site since the new editor is out and I don't want to break the usage policy. I will be porting this to the new v3.00 Editor as a Hub, along with cleaning it up a little since I'm still not pleased with how it turned out. I started this project whenever I was young and I intend to finish it properly this time. Afterwards, I will begin working on the sequel "Adventures in the Foggy Mountains" (or something along the lines of that, haven't decided yet.. it won't have a connection to MOPI at all though).

The legacy editor version of this adventure will no longer be available for download.

Whenever I release the ported version I will make a thread for it in the new editor section and put the download there instead of at my site (I will link to the download thread on my website though, instead of removing the game page all together).

Awesome!

Oh, and is Jacob's Classics coming back? I had an idea of making my version...

I don't think it's going to come back for a loooong time (aka probably never). I started that "series" when I was young and pretty much made really bad levels with poor dialog. MOPI has a lack of scenery and some dialog that needs improved as well, which I will work on before continuing designing anything else in it.

I have made a very minor update to the demo, and a BIG update to the first post in this topic. Make sure you reread the first post completely before downloading the new demo so you know what's going on.

Enjoy!

Another update has been made, please read the update log!

This update is optional since the Demo ends at the same spot.

Man I really hate making multiple posts in a row, but umm... yeah...

I'm going to stop working on MOFI until I get at least 1 more designer, the textures I need, and feedback on the current demo.

I'm getting the impression that it's a little too late to start back on this. :(

I have just completed the bit where you meet Master Powful and have to find an orange key.
Loof didn't particularly enjoy getting chased by a Heat-Seeking missile,
But he pulled through and found the key.
No bugs found.

That's great to hear. :D
Just watch out though, it gets a bit harder from there.

Loof has just solved 4 different puzzles to open gates and find glyphs...
And now he's found himself in a dark, dark cave...
This was my favourite part yet, I enjoyed getting shot at while running up a hallway!
No bugs found.

This is just a small question:
Do you guys want video solutions for MOPI? I'm horrible at writing solutions for anything and I don't even know if you guys want solutions.

I suppose you can if you want to. However I'm not going to be dealing with solutions anytime soon, not until the game is complete (to avoid any level changes). When it's nearing completion, I'll make its own page on my site.

I LIKE VIDEO SOLUTIONS
To Shorty, who was immortalized in an adventure.
To Marinus, who was my community older brother.
To Janet, who I will remember every time I wear a toque.

May these lost Wonderlanders find true adventure beyond us.

ANNOUNCEMENT:

MOPI is about 75% done right now. Very soon (maybe even today or tomorrow) there will be an official demo released. :D By official demo, I mean that there will be no updates after the official demo is released until the adventure is complete. This way, there will be more surprise and less "Oh I've already seen that and there's just a few changes. This isn't exciting anymore!". That will be when I fix bugs in the final release.

But yes, the demo is almost ready. I just need to add in a new level!

Also, I've added a new entry for the Update Log in the first post. Read it if you're interested.

I'll assume that you mean you've played the most recent demo. What did you think of it? :)

To everyone:
I need as much feedback as possible. Report any bugs, inconsistencies, things not looking right, things missing, etc. I want this to be a high-quality adventure when it's done. I've already noticed a lot of things wrong since I posted the official demo, such as the fireflowers not being red anymore (not their spellball) and have fixed that.
