Check out what I got the other day StinkyFTW and Wonderland King!!
<<<<<<<

EDIT (a few hours later):
There used to be a crown on top of Cloney in my avatar, but I changed it because I'm feeling sensible again. Sorry!
Instead enjoy some phone art in its place.

Well, it turns out being king is kinda boring, so you can take my crown back, Wonderland King. Now I'm working to get a PhD in Meme Class.

So, i started working on my first hub and i want to make a stinker NPC that will wear a rainbow wizard hat. Is making a custom model like that possible?

It's actually not a custom model. One of the parameters you can adjust is the hat option. Just keep clicking - one of the options is the wizard hat. (After you get there, you can also click on the "color" parameter to adjust it too.

Also, just for future reference, if you're having trouble you should ask in the WA3E subforum. Not a big deal, though. :)

I know about the hats thing, but there isn't a rainbow colour option for the wizard hat.

Oh, I'm sorry - I thought you meant "rainbow wizard hat" as in hats that the rainbow wizards wear. As for the rainbow texture you want, it might be possible, but I really don't know. You can start a topic in the other subforum to ask. :)

This belongs in the WAE General Discussion section moreso than anywhere else, but I can try and explain briefly.

Adding a custom hat texture to the game is relatively simple, if you know what you're doing. If you go to the Editor root directory, then from there to Data/Models/Stinker, you'll see a lot of different files in different formats, mostly .wd3 and .wdf. The .wd3 (and .wd1) files are models - while it's not impossible to add a custom hat model to the game, it's much trickier.

The .wdf files are the hat textures themselves. Adding a new hat texture for the player to use is simple - just save the texture in that folder (I would save it as a .bmp to be safe), change the extension to .wdf, and rename it accordingly. While there's likely an upper limit on how many textures a single hat model can have, we don't know what it is.

Making an NPC use a custom hat is a bit trickier - You'll have to modify the NPC object in either a .wop file or in the .wlv file itself, to make the hat colour value point to your new texture.

To explain it very briefly: Using a hex editor, you'll need to change the value of Data3 in the NPC's data. At some point, I'll try and write a proper tutorial about how to do this, but for now, you can find notes I made on the layout of .wop files here.

I hope that helps somehow. :)

After a few hours of looking into other people's wops and experimenting, i finally did something correctly! Now i just need to make the hat rainbow (or maybe the white & black hat looks cooler?) Also, next time should i just make a new thread in the WA3E section or ask here http://pcpuzzle.com/forum/viewtopic.php ... sc&start=0 ?
BTW, what should my hub be called? It will be about getting a blue flower. Wonderland Adventures: Mysteries of Blue Flower?

(I've deleted a question that was originally for Qloof, as I misunderstood his post.)

@rainbowworm: The hat actually looks really neat. 8)

Is it possible to give NPCs new hat (or glasses) models, or can we only change the textures?

It's possible through the same means, though it's a bit trickier because you need to take the model scale into consideration. It's bizarre, some of the hats are a pretty standard size when opened in Blender or some such, while some of them are absolutely massive.

You'd probably have to play around with the scale for a while to get them looking right.

.wd3 models are in the .3ds format. IIRC, accessories only work as .3ds's.

Sorry for my ignorance, but how do you convert the .3ds model file to .wd3 format? I've done some searching, but I haven't had much luck...

You rename the files and you change the extension to .wd3. To files that are hidden because of a common file extension, go to Folder Settings in Windows and find the option that says "Hide Known File Types" or something and uncheck it.

I tried that, but it didn't work. I probably just named the model (even if the extension was right) incorrectly, so I'll experiment a little. Thanks for your help. :)

P.S. A mod should really split these posts and move them to the WA3E section.

This is a test post in a new browser called Dillo. It does not support Javascript. I want to know if I can post posts. Feel free to ignore it. Bye-bye!
Oh wow, it worked!

Why would you want to use a browser that can't do something as basic as Javascript

I mean, we're in 2016, there's thousands of better alternatives out there

Sure, maybe you're just testing it for fun, but it still is kinda awkward

Good question. The answer is that I don't want to use it, but it can load in under a second which makes it ideal for quick web searches.
Firefox, on the other hand, takes several seconds.
So why did I test it on the forums? Just curious.
