Adventure #60: Explosion Buddy (fixed)

Post by MyNameIsKooky » Mon Mar 10, 2014 11:30 pm

Here's an adventure where you have to escort a Baby Boomer through a few puzzles. Have fun! :)

EDIT: A massive loophole at the beginning of the adventure has been fixed. See if you can still solve it!

Well, this was a very fun, challenging, ingenious, and mean adventure.

P.S. I answered "Yes".

Nice adventure! I really liked how Mr. Zurkon wasn't in it!

Also, it's impossible to say no.

I liked this one up until the ending (read: Grow). That was just... rude, to be honest. :|

It's very easy to avoid death if you place your own Growflowers in decent positions...

Yeah, but even so - It's kinda tedious, the constant firing sound got annoying pretty quickly, and it's still possible to take a wrong step and die because of it being a Grow minefield.

It's an interesting idea on paper, I just don't think it works that well in practice.

Aww, that was a sad adventure. :(

I honestly could not figure out how to solve it.

P.S. I've made tedious levels, too...

like, say, Sunken Cemitary(misspelled)...

This level isn't tedious. Or sad, for that matter.

I disagree. Most of the level is fine, but as stated before the Grow-Wraith part is (IMO) quite tedious. Not difficult, just tedious.

I meant Kooky's other adventure - not the one on the first topic.

Grow-Wraiths are kinda neat. They kill you if you get too close, but otherwise you can avoid them. Think of them like Lurkers. There are only a few spots where this isn't completely true and those are easily taken care of via your own Growflowers. Still a bit tedious, but an interesting idea.

Just to clarify: was the "blue" button in the beginning just a red herring or do I have to use it somehow? I didn't use it... which means I had to employ a really bothersome timing trick to get my kaboom across the conveyor. Was that intended or is there a better way?
Rest in peace, Kym. I hardly knew ya.
Rest in peace, Marinus. A bright star, you were ahead of me on my own tracks of thought. I miss you.

The metal button at the beginning is intended to be used. I just forgot to place a certain gate and thus pressing it became optional, allowing for loopholes. The method you mentioned of getting the Kaboom past the conveyor was also unintentional. The intended method is much easier to pull off.

Whoa... I never expected grow wraiths... is it a new concept? By the way, the adventure was quite tedious with lots of loading and saving to do inorder to stay without losing. Great adventure otherwise in terms of design, ideas and the baby boomer guiding :D

I never found it too tedious, in most of my personal honesty. :|

I think I did it more like Muzuzavr; I never used the first button.

Although, what happened was that I actually...
Jutomi, who's probably giving too much away on account of that he's not a double agent, wrote:1 was to bring the boomer to the other side,
2 was to cast a brr on the far end of the conveyor-belt rift,
3 was to cast brr and gain access to flo, and
4 was to use your special ice-flo trick to bring the boomer up first, and me following him.
Highlight at your own risk of finding a big part of the solution I used.

Edit: Forgot to type /color...

Neat. I did it in a much worse way, requiring me to direct a Kaboom! on the brr pad, then immediately direct him OFF the brr pad before it sinks. It's possible, but quite tricky.

That's also what I did. SS01 did something similar I think.

Absolutely brilliant adventure. I don't see what's so bad about the Grow part, I really liked it :P

If you avoid standing next to the Wraiths and go in straight lines as much as possible, you shouldn't have too much trouble in that part.

I liked the Grow part too, but then again, I made the adventure. :P

I found that placing Grow immediately adjacent to each Wraith to block their line of fire worked really well.

I'm doing really badly at this.

But seriously, I'm stuck. I can't get past that conveyor with no tail and I don't know how to save enough Brrs so I have one to use there. I tried trapping a Baby Kaboom! shot in a Floing bubble to kill the Weebot, but it turned out the worse for me after I stood too close. :(

This somehow managed to slip under my radar. Thanks for bumping it!
Not too easy, but not too hard either. Great job!
I never knew that Grow Wraiths could actually kill the player. Although a tad annoying at times, I liked the concept.

This was a very good adventure, MNIK;
you added many interesting and downright confusing features. :)

As you've told me earlier from the one video I uploaded on epigam,
I didn't exactly solve the ice part right...

Still, it was nice playing this again, even if I didn't remember how to solve pretty much anything. :D

Thank you very much for the adventure!
