RubiXquares

Post by Blast!10 » Tue Dec 08, 2009 5:37 pm

http://yuvsstuff.net/ragf.exe - RubiXquares 1.0.3 (the EXE data says 1.0.1.0 but it's actually 1.0.3)

This game is intended for those who experience difficulties solving Rubik's Cube (me, for example). This game is like a cube, but a 2D square and has only 2 colo(u)rs. It's much easier than the cube, but it's still a bit challenging.

To play, you get a scrambled square and start flipping columns vertically and flipping rows horizontally until you solve your square. A solved square is one with the two left columns red and the two right ones green. (not the other way around)

Solved square

Explanation of the interface

Image Flip the corresponding row
Image Flip the corresponding column
Image Show move history (right-click to clear move history)
Image Copy move history to clipboard
Image Clear move history and reset square
Image Scramble your square (16 random moves)
Press F7 to mute the music.

Explanation of the move codes

L = left, 1st column from the left
LI = inner left, 2nd column
RI = inner right, 3rd column
R = right, 4th column

T = top, 1st row from the top
TI = inner top, 2nd row
BI = inner bottom, 3rd row
B = bottom, 4th row

In this topic, you can discuss the game, tell us about algorithms, give additional puzzles (reaching a certain picture from a solved state in the smallest possible number of moves), and pretty much everything else about the game.

Have fun, and please give feedback! And btw, please no "please put a winning detector" comments - I have considered that option and discussed it with the testers, and the final decision was NO.

Very fun!

It would be cool to have more sizes... that would be awesome!

I would also be nice if when you solved it a message would popup saying "Good Job, you solved it!" OR something.

*coughcoughcough*

Great game, Blast!10. :D I'm glad you decided to add a scrambler. IMO it's more fun to try and solve one that's been scrambled by something else rather than one you scrambled yourself. :P :wink:

How ironic. I just implemented that a few days ago. 1.0.4 coming soon...

1. Quote fail. (which has now been fixed :P )
2. Do you mean, like a different scrambler that does 32 random moves instead of 16? Couldn't the player just make it scramble it twice?

T RI LI BI :D

I came across the upside down situation, so I figured out the steps I need to get it flipped vertically (B RI is upside down; T RI is correct). Then I just thought and got to the solution.

New riddle coming soon.

EDIT:

Reach this in 6 moves or less.
