Rainbow keys and mottled red and green keys
My inventary bag is full of keys.
I have 3 rainbow keys and found only 2 gates which led to the other side of a puzzle already completed by going in to it the other way round. (Have forgotten the name, but it was by the castle I think.)
Shall I use 2 of my rainbow keys on these gates just to get rid of them to free up more space, or do I actually need them somewhere else?
Then there are these other keys I am accumulating around forest end. When do they come in handy?

Two of the rainbow keys should have been used on those gates, you don't need them anywhere else. Don't know how you got in another way though, maybe that's a bug that needs fixing.
The funny looking keys are to be used in another part of the forest. See my post in here....

3 keys
As you can see, I have 3 rainbow keys unused and 2 gates not opened.
I take it I can 'dump' 2 of my rainbow keys by using them to open 2 gates thus freeing up more space in my inventory bag?

In the middle picture the pink gate is open but the pink switch is still lit. How did you get the pink gate open if you didn't use that switch? You didn't use the pink key that you're supposed to use in the Lookout Tower did you? The one you get from the guy in the wheatfields? Or did you use that key to open the gate to the ruins and the key you were meant to use to get into the ruins down in the cellar. If you did either of those then you won't be able to get into the Lookout Tower.....unless by some miracle that switch will open the Lookout Tower, but I can't see that happening because it's in a completely different area.

problem of 3 rainbow keys (SPOILER)
The 2 rainbow keys you have to use them on the 2 rainbow doors.
You use the 3th one on another rainbow door in the game.
There is already a topic on that key. Also if you visite Mette's site, you see in the list of the stars, where you have to use this key.
But if you can't wait for it, read this spoiler

the rainbow key is used on a rainbow door that is located in the very beginning of the game. Just before the waterfalls I think. On the left side, you can walk along the water north. There you'll find the door. Behind this door you can collect 2 golden stars. So to complete all 104 stars you'll have to collect those 2 too!
greenish keys
Those greenish keys you have in your bag?
Those keys are from Forest End, aren't they?
How could you collect them? You haven't activated the Rainbow Pool yet. That's the level behind those 2 rainbow gates!
So like the WA-story goes and we have to believe it, you have activated the teleportation to Forest End with the shards? And not used the rainbow keys?
How is that possible?

That's the way of the game.tessa123123 wrote:You then get inside with a pink gate between the 2 ways in:
I can't understand why you can get in using either way?
But as I wrote before: to get to that pink switch, you have open those 2 rainbow doors. That pink switch only opens the pink gate.
You proved you have opened the pink gate not using the pink switch in the other room!

Again! How did you teleport to Forest End with activating the Rainbow Pool!tessa123123 wrote:My inventary bag is full of keys.

Those keys are used in Forest End at the castle there.
here is a spoiler how to find the castle:
At the crossroads at Forest Ends go down and the next also down, then right.
The crossroads is a room with a crossroad and trees. It's also a level but that's not what I mean.

I think I must have used a pink key to open that pink gate.
I have already activated rainbow pool and have done enough puzzles to go through the green gates with all my motled keys, so why did that pink key work on that gate?
I can see having to start the game from the beginning again as I have saved over earlier saves so cannot get back to still having that pink key if i need it elseware later on!!!

I don't think keys from one area are meant to work in another area, but when you picked up the key from the guy in the wheatfields he did say it was for the Lookout Tower. So the natural progression would have been to go to the Lookout Tower straight away and unlock it. You must have kept it in your bag and gone walkabout, seen the pink gate and thought 'hmmm, I've got a pink key here, I think I'll use it'
I don't think MS considered that that might happen.
I don't think it will stop you from finishing the game, but you won't be able to get enough stars to open the 104 star gate in Wondertown. Or maybe you will, I can't remember how many stars there are in the Lookout Tower.

Good luck anyway.

The Lookout Tower is in the area with the bails of wheat and two guys in straw hats, one wandering about and the other standing still. To the west is the Labyrinth, to the north is the way to Foggy Mountains, to the south is the East gate into Wondertown, with a red switch in front of it. To the east is the Creepy Keep which is closed for renovation, but the tower just south of it is open if you use the pink key from the guy with the straw hat.
