lost info on games played
I started up Wonderland Deluxe and just for the heck of it thought I'd go thru and see if I played all the tutorials, classic levels and the deluxe levels. I tend to do that once in awhile.
Well, guess what, it says I haven't played any of them when I know I have. It shows all the custom levels I have played, I even went thru some of the user files and double checked them. I've played over 7000 custom levels.
I was just wondering if anyone else had this happen to them. Sure is wierd.

I haven't had that happen but what you are looking for is a .pla file....like my user name is Mom...so my player file is mom.pla...maybe do a search on your computer for your file.
Otherwise it could be that the file was "compressed" as an old file. You should still be able to find it and decompress it.
That's the only suggestions I have and they may not even apply to your problem but heck it's worth a try hehehe

rescuefire you must be about my age cause you don't remember anything either. On one post I mentioned that I back up my player file about once a month and you mentioned that was a good idea.
But I'm not going to replace it with the one I've backed up, I've played to many custom levels since then and I really don't want to replay them..........
Actually it's sort of fun replaying them. I've finished the tutorials, they were soooo easy. There's no telling what might have happened. But I will be backing up my player file more often. You might be right though about the old file compressing but I thought I had my PC set to not do that, but XP is sort of funny sometimes.

If you've only lost the original files, then are you sure you didn't change your player name at some point. That would mean all the levels you played before under a different name show up as not played, because you haven't played them under that name. I've often clicked on new player by mistake when opening the game and wondered where all my scores went. Check in your directory for any other player files.

Pauline
I've clicked on the new player by accident several times also but always caught myself. When the kids were here they created new player files but that's been ages ago. I just deleted them. I just now checked my PC and I have one .pla file in each of my wonderland games. It just didn't make sense since it still showed how many and the score for all the custom levels I've played and it showed 60 levels under the regular ones even though when I entered the tutorials, classic, etc....none had been played.
I was reading another post: http://www.pcpuzzle.com/forum/viewtopic ... ight=score
So maybe it's just a random glitch or one of my programs did something. Guess it's a mystery never to be solved.
Thanks for your input rescuefire and popo.

This probably isn't the place but I have a question about what you just said Popo......can you explain how to have the editor and the game open at the same time? When I've made textures or the one time I made a level I kept having to exit the editor and "return to game" to see the work I'd completed.
Is there a way to keep both open?

Oh yea, just click your game, hit play game then open it again to the level editor. I used to hit alt-tab to switch back and forth but if I do it to many times I get a MAV and the editor will go black, so I just use the minimize button and switch back and forth. In other words you can have 2 instances of the game open at once.
I also discovered you can open another level then go back to the one you were working on and then it will show your score when you are finished that way you don't have to exit out of the game. When I make a level I test and retest and retest to make sure everything is coming together the way it should. I usually have a dummy level so I can switch to it then switch back when I'm ready to finalize the level I made.

Right, your start key will bring up your taskbar so you can click on and bring up whichever window you want on top. I do that with most of my programming stuff, spreadsheets etc. I also have an "application" button on my keyboard that you can hit on one side or the other to toggle through whichever program you want......I tried having the game going, actually had two levels going hehehe and then switch one from a game to the editor. I had the forum open and my email program open....I guess it was too much. I got a MAV as soon as I opened the editor...which was the last thing I opened.
So I guess just having the two open, editor and game, will have to suffice cuz that seems to be working well. Thanks girlies for the info

yup, amazing what you can learn. When I was making my tikihut I learned a bit more about jasc paint shop pro 8. It's been on my PC for about 3 yrs. now but I never really learned how to use it, book is way to thick. Sometimes you just have to get in there and experiment. But like popo when I'm working on something I'll have 2 or 3 different programs open along with several files. But sometimes I forget what I'm doing and just have to stop and think about it. I redid the tikihut about 4 times before I was satisfied with it. I'm no good with 3D programs.

Hmmm this thread is really getting off topic BUT....I think yer awesome with that 3D stuff! I tried Jasc for a bit but it wasn't what I was used to and I'm an old lady that doesn't like change....too much. I use Corel Suite's for my stuff. I haven't ever even tried any 3D programs. I think there's an old version of Corel that had it but I've upgraded a few times and I hadn't ever used it anyway. What do you use for your 3D design?

My hubby bought some sort of CAD program for 2D and 3D, easy to use is what it says on the case...........well let me tell you I was so confused I said to heck with it and took it off my PC. He's a pro with it, I just don't have the patience and he doesn't have the patience to teach me. I stick with what I know. Popo and JG make some of the best models on here, actually I think they've made a majority of them. So I leave the models to someone else but I have learned how to manipulate them in to something else.

I use AC3D. I started off with Milkshape as Patrick said that is what was used for the game, but I found it hard to texture things with it, I didn't like the controls. I tried AC3D on a 14 day trial and found it so much easier to understand. There's a good manual with it too that helps you get to grips with the various controls. It's $74.95 so it's a decent price, and you do get free upgrades for so long, several years in fact. If you have an older model that has run out of free upgrades then it's £34.95 to upgrade, then you get several more years of free upgrades.

I still use Milkshape. Not sure which version, but it has upgraded several times in the last couple of years.
I also have AC3D, but only use it when I find a model that is big (too many vertices to open with Milkshape) and then I tinker around with it before finishing it in Milkshape.
I started with Jasc Paint Shop Pro 7, and now it is up to version 11. Although it is now Corel Paint Shop Pro.
When I make levels I have both the game and the editor open in windowed mode, almost side by side on the moniter.

Much shorter way to do that.Just run the editor in fullscreen mode, make any level, switch to the game, then exit it. The editor is still open. Haha!uneekrose wrote:Oh yea, just click your game, hit play game then open it again to the level editor. Blast, that's the point your missing...I don't want to "exit" either. I want the eidtor and game opened so that I can switch back and forth. This is working perfectly. I just didn't realize you could open the game, or editor, twice.

The first time I played RTW I ran everything in fullscreen mode. I started making levels like crazy. When I thought I'll go to bed, I suddenly saw I have 8 level editor windows open. When I switched the editor to windowed mode, the problem disappeared. This means, that when I open the editor in fullscreen mode and switch to the game properly, the editor doesn't close.

Code: Select all
