Inaccurate Level Description wrote:Difficulty: Moderate
Type: Puzzle, Timing, Invents, Jumbled, Action*
Feel: Serene, Lax, Open
Family: Tinkered
Reward: Well
I recall making a statement of how mobile stars could press buttons
which would be dangerous,
and how I could do that ... but with gems;
Said statement over in the Plutomaniac Rift section.

So, this is the adventure I made featuring such. ;)

Thanks to Samuelthx for helping to inspire me,
whether he meant to or not.

Also, I wanted to mention that as of this post,
this is the last adventure of mine that's serene and not in use for JA:HOTSP.
However, I do have another 5 adventures saved up.

I hope you enjoy! :D

Here are the video solutions:
Part 1,
Part 2.

WOW! I love this concept!
It's sad the gems cannot be freezed or trapped in a Floing bubble though, but it may be used on purpose!

I hope I can use the whole idea in my upcoming adv.s, can't I?

This was a really great concept! I'm flattered that you put my name in the credits; since I played only a miniscule role in the creation of this adventure (and yep, it was not intentional  ).
I hope my takeaway from this adventure is correct:

I have a more general piece of information about gems:
A spoiler I wrote:All the gems, including the mobile ones, use the gem logic. This means they are immune to Floing Bubbles, freezing, fireballs and all forms of destruction. The only magic types which interact with mobile gems are Grow (not directly, but mobile gems turn after hitting a GrowFlower) and Flash.

How do you make mobile gems?

Oondi's Explanation

Post by Jutomi » Tue Nov 04, 2014 11:46 pm

Hmmm...
so you want to learn a secret from Jutomi, hmm?

It's actually not too hard...
but it is difficult. :?
You'll need MyNameIsKooky's PowerWopBeta if you'd like to do it the way I did. :|

I selected the normal UFOs from the file and changed their models to "gem".
I then, of course, added all of my usual modifiers; size/coordinate adjust,
stuff like that, albeit I doubt that stuff's necessary. ;)
I then just placed them in the adventure.

Now, they'd act just like UFOs that'd look like gems, however,
I also changed the logic using command 4,
used this topic to find the proper things,
used powerwop to find the logic number of gems,
and then changed the gem's logic to ...
well, a gem.

This made it so its momentum from its battle-bot/saucer/UFO stage is still
in motion, but the gem itself acts like a regular gem.
However, adding too many, and probably playing too much with the other...
err - data values....
it wouldn't have worked properly. :|
Also, note, that the command 4 command should be activated before the
saucer-gem gets in line-of-sight with you;
otherwise you may end up being shot at. :?

Finally, in order to make it so that they worked as actual gems in the
game itself, I added two gems in the walls.

See, spawning the level with "collect all of the gems" counts them all based
on the natural gems already spawned in;
the UFO ones are not counted towards the count.
So, in order to make it so that you have to collect the mobile gems,
I added enough untouchable gems in the walls to cover the loss. :P

I hope this helps a little bit. :D

Ah. Then I must have done the level correctly.

Wow...Ok, I never expected that the game engine could be tricked in this manner
Did you have to use this trick for the star in Plutomaniac Rift?

Star's Fortunatality

Post by Jutomi » Wed Nov 05, 2014 1:03 am

Fortunately, not!

Since it did turn into a star, and I always have to collect 1 star,
whether there's 0 or 72, I just had to add the object.

I'm glad; I wouldn't want random green sparks coming out of the rift for no reason... :?

or would I?
