WA3 Update Thread - Pictures (and answers) only edition

Post by tyteen4a03 » Sun Jul 08, 2012 5:18 am

I noticed that some users are unhappy about all the speculations that are going on in the official thread that keeps them from just seeing pictures, so I will be including all pictures of WA3 updates here, along with the date, and the message.

This topic is locked intentionally. For discussions, please go to the official WA3 update thread here.

All times are in EST (Eastern time), with DST (if applicable).

Picture 1, posted on Sun Jul 11, 2010 4:20 pm

I wasn't sure if this thread is a good idea, given that I don't know how much longer it'll be until WA3 is ready (if it is ever ready). But I thought I'd post a picture once in a while of what is on my screen. I'll try to do that once a week - assuming there's something to post - and hopefully we'll see the final game in less than thirty pictures.

There'll be no comments from me on what anything on any picture is (feel free to speculate away), but I will say that these will be (at first) from very early test versions. As such, you'll likely see stuff that is unfinished, not working, or will not make the final game.

So, here's Picture #1. See you in a week!

A little early this week - and no picture next week as I'll be away from this computer.

Question 6, posted on unknown date by yot yot 5, answered on unknown date, quoted on Sat Jan 28, 2012 11:11 am by Fluffshery
Fluffshery wrote:MS actually said that his original idea for indigo magic was suite similar to an idea yot yot had.
MS's exact words:
Midnight Synergy wrote:As to Indigo: My original idea for it (as well as large parts of the POTZ plot) was actually quite similar to what yot yot mentions. Stinkers would even revisit the same level at different points in time, and interact with past and future versions of themselves. Is this idea still part of POTZ at this time? Well... TIME will tell, won't it.
Yot yot's idea:
yot yot5 wrote: I just hope indigo magic is going to be EPIC!!! Here's my idea:
You begin a certain level with indigo magic. You have to shoot a barrel, and then return to the exit. A gate is in front of the barrel, and the button is on the other side of this section.
You solve the level by stepping below the gate, and shooting the barrel with pow. The gate blocks the way and the shot is wasted; or is it???
You now use indigo magic to go back in time to the start of this section. You step on the gate button, and the other you shoots the barrel through the safely opened gate!

A few tweaks:
1: no more then three stinkers at any one time (so you can only fling across time twice).
2: if you touch, kill, or even alter the other you, a paradox will happen and you DIE!

You know, I probably shouldn't, but I can't help myself...

Month 4. Zotz = Potz? Zotz? Maybe inspiration for name?

Is this a coincidence?

Well, I think I have officially put in the final gameplay element. WIth this "start and stop" development, I keep thinking of new things to put into the game in the interim, leading to some serious feature creep. For example, the last element was supposed to be a single new "creature", which then ended up being two different creatures, with the second version having three different subtypes. :) Needless to say, there are a ton of new toys to play with.

But I think this is it now.

I also went through the list of posts of request and bug-reports, and have added/fixed a number of things (although not all, of course). Today's preview pick is in relation to one of those items.

This WA3 update pic comes with a special 'shout out' to the folks who have put together (and kept up) the Wonderland Wiki. It's actually been a great resource for me these days... a quick way to remind myself what kind of glasses OobibanDeNoobi had, or how to spell Zoopi Lala. :)

Great job, and thanks!

Sorry for the lack of updates... it's been a very slow month.

But things are ticking along. I've been spending most of my time on the hub lately, fleshing out conversations, side-quests, etc.

I should have a new picture up soon-ish (certainly by next weekend).

Slow and steady...

Hi,

obviously, a "race" is not on. WA3 will be ready when it's ready, and that is going to be quite independent of the number of posts in this topic.

Instead of a screenshots, I'll give a tidbit of information this week: Indigo Magic is NOT a combination/rehash of previous powers. It's something very new.

No Wysp is not the bad guy. C'mon guys (and gals), would I really do that? It's Wonderland, not Film Noir. :)

Having said that, I will not guarantee an entirely happy ending to WA3.
Ooooooooo..... !?!?!

Message 5, posted on Mon Apr 29, 2013 1:17 pm

Hi all,

I really want to ensure that WA3 gets done and done well by summer's end. There's still a lot to do, and I think I will need to consider getting some help from the community.

* I haven't decided on levels yet. So far, I've designed them all myself, and it may actually be more work to set everything up for level submissions than doing them myself. Possibly more on that later.

* Closer to release, I will ask for a set of beta testers. Don't submit your name to me yet, it will be ignored. I will send out a message when it's time.

For now, I thought it would be interesting to see what folks could come up with for the official Wonderland Adventures 3 Logo.

Similar to Wonderland Adventures: Mysteries of Fire Island, the logo should contain the original Wonderland Adventures logo, followed by a larger design for "Planet of the Z-Bots".

Rules:

1. Email your submission to midnight@midnightsynergy.com with Subject "WA POTZ Logo Submission" by May 19. Do not post your submission here and help keep the suspense.

2. I will select possible contenders and post them here after the deadline, at which point everyone can post their preferences.

3. I would prefer .bmp or .png format. .jpg will work in a pinch. Make the image larger rather than smaller, so that it can be scaled easily to different sizes.

4. By submitting you agree that, if picked, your logo will become the main WA3 logo used in the game and on other material. You will be given credit in the game's credit section, and a free copy of WA3 upon release, but there is not other payment for the work.

Best,
Patrick

Hello all:

Just a general progress update, sans Screenshot this time.

Development is going nicely. The game is definitely in the home stretch now. I just have a few more adventures to design, as well as the “end game”. After that I will be selecting testers to try out the game for a month or two while I finish off some of the “other” stuff (like title sequence, menus, website, etc). A final release looks very likely for sometime in the Fall of this year, probably October.

However, I will be taking some time off for the next ten days (and will be out of email contact).

I’ll post more details, as well as details on how you can enter your name as a potential tester, in about two weeks time when I’m back online. Please don’t submit “testing requests” until then (they will be ignored).
