Problem with the Level Editor
Hi can anyone help me? I have a problem with my level editor on my portable.
It works fine on the main PC but on my portable when I try to load a level it gives me an MAV.
I competely reformatted my HD and re-installed windows (XP) but it has made no difference whatsoever. I am using exactly the same version on both PC and laptop so what is going on? It used to work ok but it now refuses.
HEEEEEEEEEEEEEEELP!!!!!!

The Deluxe version can open .Lv5 and .Lev. The Platinum can open .Lv6, .Lv5 and .Lev.jdl wrote:Yes, I think you can use the deluxe version with the Lev and Lv5 and not Lev6. And I think with Platinum, you can use Lv6 and Lv5 and not Lev.
Of course I may be wrong. Little help here Pat?
I've never really messed with the deluxe version.
.Lev = Classic RTW Level File
.Lv5 = Deluxe RTW Level File
.Lv6 = Platinum RTW Level File

Well yes that's true, but it still doesn't address the question - which is why does my platinum editor come up with an MAV.The Deluxe version can open .Lv5 and .Lev. The Platinum can open .Lv6, .Lv5 and .Lev.
I have 2 Gb of memory on this machine, so that's not the problem.

Is it only affecting the editor and not the game itself? If so, that's odd.
Patrick usually first recommends making sure your DirectX is up to date, and also checking for driver updates for your video and sound cards.
Also try starting it in windowed mode instead of full screen.
If any of the above don't work, you'll need advice from someone "techier" than I. Sorry.

It's seriously odd. I thought it might be the saved installer that I used but I used the same one for my PC and it works just fine. It WAS working but then it messed up - so I did a complete clean re-format re-install everything and it made not the slightest difference.janetgalle wrote:Is it only affecting the editor and not the game itself? The only thing different about the portable is that it has XP Home on it instead of XP Pro on the other one, but it was working before so I'm completely fogged.

I think I'm going to try installing Pro on the laptop see if that works.

Lizwiz did you ever install the update. It sounds to me like it's your graphic card. But try the update and see what happens.

Yes I tried that too, but it didn't make any difference. I don't know what caused the problem but when I managed to reinstall the system software (and everything else on the computer) it went away. It might have had something to do with the computer itself but whatever it was it works now, and I'm not about to try and repeat the problem to see what caused ituneekrose wrote:Lizwiz did you ever install the update. Thanks everyone for your help. YAY I've got my editor back - now what did I do with that level plan?
