It's something the original Wonderland did not possess. Instead, the original Wonderland DELAYS your movement when switching, so you end up merely minimizing that delay.
RTWP's handling of a character switch leads to harder, more complex speed running, which is why it's better.
Not that I'm actively speed running RTWP right now, hell I'm not even close to speed running all of the original Wonderland... but I still love the idea that there is always room for improvement. Unless you're a robot that can do it perfectly all the time, and I'm not a robot.
