A funny thing happened feeding the fish...

Post by Loirae » Thu Sep 08, 2005 11:22 pm

I downloaded the complete pack of kid games from Mette's website (thanks for that) but found that my 4-year old preferred exploring and pushing ice into water and watching it explode. So, the time constraints on some of them were making him cry. In particular a series called "The Letter..." (can't give credit, don't remember who made them) There was no way for him to get killed other than time running out.

So, I opened all of them up in the editor and changed them to the full 15 minutes. Apparently the .lvl and the .lv5 are a tad different because in all of them, once converted to lv5, the fish in the pond turned into UFO mother ships. I didn't know this.

So I was cooking dinner a I hear, "MOMMY!!!!!!! HELP!!!!!! THEY ARE KILLING ME!!!!!" Wondering what "they" are, I went to see and imagine my surprise to see anywhere from 4-9 mother ships rising out of the water and sending hundreds of UFOs after my son!

That'll teach me to mess with other people's puzzles.

Gee, that was funny, but not for your son I bet.

I had no idea either that things like that happened in the editor. :?

You could just turn the timer off in the options menu when your son is playing, then he'll have all the time in the world to play with no nasty surprises.

Hi Loirae,

I thought the fish/mothership thing was something everybody knew  When I discovered it, I looked for some references on the matter and found nothing. I just figured that it was old news and didn't want to embarass myself by asking (I was fairly new then)

When I first got the deluxe edition, I tried to convert some of my classic levels to deluxe and that's how I discovered the change from fish to mothership. At the time I hadn't played much of the deluxe levels, so it was actually my first encouter with a mothership  :D

Thanks for bringing this up :D You obviously posess more courage than me

A funny thing happened

Me too,  I stumbled on this by accident myself. One of the levels had a coin hidden in a wall that was supposed to be fake and I tried to fix it and wound up with lots and lots of motherships, I would have to look back on that level but I didn't think there were any fish. I just thought it was my hand being smacked for doing something I shouldn't have, but I learned my lesson real quick about fixing levels.

I had the same thing happen. There have been a couple of levels I couldn't finish because of the invisible wall blocking the exit. The easiest way I've found to fix the problem is to add a row of whatever the outer row is. When I went back to the game to try it out to see if it fixed the problem, I had motherships and ufo's all over the place! I think I screamed the first time! I just went into the level again and removed the motherships and anything else that I didn't add and saved it. It played fine then. :D

Try using this link instead Loofie, it is the full link to your piccy. A bit long I know. Don't forget the Image boxes and no spaces. Highlight the link and copy and paste it in your signature.:D

Loofie, you need to choose whether to have your piccy in your sig or as an avatar. You can't have both, the big boss man says so.
