Memory Access Violation

Post by ladymgr59 » Mon Apr 10, 2006 12:22 pm

When I try to download a new level it does so, but when I try to open it and play I get a memory access violation. What does this mean and/or how do I fix it.

Thanks

You can't open the levels on their own, they have to be put into your Custom Levels folder in the main Return to Wonderland directory. The main directory should be on your C drive, but not in Program Files. Use windows explorer to find it if you don't know where it is. :)

I do not personally have this problem. But I get that note kicking me off RTWD whenever I try to play a level with a chomper in it. I also get it when I am playing a level in which a UFO is destroyed. I don't know why, I suppose my computer can't handle it, or something :?

Does it happen in both custom and built-in levels?
If so, the problem might be in your videocard or drivers. I can't say more, I don't have RTWP.
Rest in peace, Kym. I hardly knew ya.
Rest in peace, Marinus. A bright star, you were ahead of me on my own tracks of thought. I miss you.

I`ve had this error before, but it only happened once.I tried making a 99x99 level. And when I tried playing the level,it said "MEMORY ACCESS VIOLATION" on it. How big was the level? The level could have been too big :? .
If Sonic were a tough cookie, What kind of cookie would he be? I'm going with "Snickerdoodle".

Call me SS if you like.

I'm having the same problem. Paulm12 has a level called tests and when I try to go play it the game shuts down and the little window comes up "memory access violation". I opened it in editor and their definately is a game there. I tried to play it about 5 or 6 times and still the same thing. Also when I use the editor sometimes and then switch to play the custom levels the same thing will happen where the game shuts downa and the little error message comes up.

I get that all the time on my older computer, but if I try those same levels on my newer laptop I don't have it at all. I think it's probably a graphics card or amount of memory thing. My computer that get the MAV error has both an older Graphics card and very little memory.

I checked my graphic card and it only has 32m so I'm working on a new one. My husband put a really nice radeon 256 (brand new) in his sisters older pc. I chewed him out cause she doesn't need it (she only uses it for word programs and email). So now he wants me to wait till he can go get her pc and he'll put a different one in hers and give me that radeon. Only problem is he's a procrastinator. I'll give him one more month then I'll go buy me one at Best Buy.
