Custom Model zip files

Post by sfseaman » Fri Jul 16, 2004 11:12 am

I have been creating the zip files with custom model files so that they automatically create the correct subdirectory and put the files in that directory. I thought it might be easier and would also decrease the possibility of a mis-spelling of the subdirectory. However, it is possible that this is creating some confusion for people who have been having trouble pulling up the custom models.

I am interested in other people's thoughts about whether this is a good idea, or whether it is adding to the confusion.

Hi Seaman,
If you mean that you zip the file folder into your .zip, I like it. The only thing I might ask you, and anyone else who does this, to do would be to clearly state that you have done this. I created a folder for a model I downloaded recently and put the zip file in it and unzipped only to find there was already a folder in it. No real problem, but I did have to do a little shuffling and deleting to fix it. In any case, you have one vote for yes (as long as it's labeled). :D

I think the clearest way to put it is this.

Whatever way your pc unzips zipped folders, just make sure that the custom model files are only in one folder i.e. not a folder in a folder.

Example.

C/RTW/custom models/sfsbeach1 folder/sfsbeach1 files

The game won't recognise the files if they are inside a folder that is in another folder.
