Wonderland Adventures (Retail $19.95), by Midnight Synergy, is a cute little game for download at http://www.midnightsynergy.com. You play the game as an adorable character called a Stinker. You can be Stinky, Loof, Qookie, Peegue, or you can customize your own character. As you navigate him through the mystical realm of Wonderland, you'll meet other Stinkers along the way who need your help with various tasks and challenges. The object of the game is to discover how to beat each challenge, while collecting stars and gems, and saving Wonderland from the mysterious happenings and creatures that keep turning up.
The challenges use your logic, timing skills, reasoning, and reflexes. You need to find keys to doors, dodge fire ball spitting plants, slide along tricky ice paths, ride moving platforms, and use many other tools to find the one correct path through each maze-like level. The first few levels are simple enough, but as you progress, the levels become more and more difficult, virtual gauntlets of peril for your cute and vulnerable little Stinker. When you complete the challenges set to you by other characters, such as helping rescue some Wee Stinkers from a cave, or retrieving a magical artifact, the story progresses through conversation with those characters.
If you find yourself stuck on a level, you can use the Discussion Forum, which can be found using the link from the game's main menu. Here you can find hints from other players on how to solve a particularly frustrating level, or even a complete solution. There is also a Hints page on the game Web site with links to video walkthroughs. However, try to solve the puzzles yourself first. It is always more satisfying to figure it out without being told what to do.
Wonderland Adventures impressed me as a very quality download, definitely worth the money. It provides hours of fun, and really gets your brain working. The Stinkers are such sweet characters, and there is no blood or violence, making this game fun for the entire family, young, old, and everywhere in between. This is one of the best games I have downloaded this year.
