Chain Level, anyone?

Post by janellesnip »

Hi Wonderlanders!
I have begun to work on an RTW level and have no intelligent ideas about how to go on. Will someone do a chain level with me? I do not want to post it on the forum, and would prefer to send it by pm to one or two people who want to work on it with me.

Thanks,
Janelle

chain level

Post by janellesnip »

Dear Billy-Bob,
I think the official definition of a chain level is where one wonderlander makes one part of a puzzle and sends it off to another wonderlander, and so on, until the series of puzzles makes up a complete level. There were several chain levels on the nutters site, back when Mette was running it.
I am thinking (perhaps) a bit more flexibly than what I imagine to be the official definition, since I do not mind my part of the puzzle being modified.
I imagine the puzzle scheme could be:
Janelle- Billy-Bob- janetgalle- muzozavr-- (to name a few)
or
Janelle- Billy-Bob- Janelle- Billy-Bob
or
Janelle- Billy-Bob- Muzozavr-Billy Bob - Muzozaur-Janelle---
or any other combination -- depending on the complexity of the level.

Yours,
Janelle

I have chained a level with Youffle, and see if anyone wants to continue it.

They will be put in The Warp Mystery's RTW level (and credit of course :P)

The chain has to end somewhere, right?

And what if one part of a user's puzzle does not correlate with the previous?

Dear Blink,
There is no chance of that. Usually each person is in charge of one section of the level. That means Stinky (or Loof and co.) start somewhere and makes his way to the section exit, which is the entrance to the next part of the chain. There can be as many sections as there are people participating in a particular level.
How Billy Bob and I did it was slightly different: One of us threw in ideas for the level; the other threw in the details to make it playable (usually Billy Bob). Only one of our levels has one section that belongs to BB and one that I drafted. ...
The participants forward each other the level back and forth until it is done.
