Help!
I have put off installing Service Pack 2 for some time - I finally did it tonight, and everything is working great - EXCEPT - whenever I go into the Editor, I have wiggly vertical black lines going crazy on my screen. I know LNS or one of you has the answer most likely. It's driving me crazy!!!

Can't help you with that one - my SP2 install worked fine, except my Internet Explorer is messed up a little. I have to enter "http://" now in the address bar - used to be able to just type in www.whatever.com. Grrr Microsoft!
Re: Help!
I would try reinstalling Wonderland Deluxe to see if that would clear it up.majic1 wrote:I have put off installing Service Pack 2 for some time - I finally did it tonight, and everything is working great - EXCEPT - whenever I go into the Editor, I have wiggly vertical black lines going crazy on my screen. I have tried every app on my computer - the editor is the ONLY thing that reacts this way. I can use the Editor- just extremely difficult when black vibrating lines are making me feel like I'm losing my mind. I'll have my son come over tomorrow and figure this out for me!!! At least I haven't experienced YOUR problem yet!

I recently got a wireless keyboard & wireless optical mouse, which I love - but, I'm wondering if that's got something to do with it. Maybe some kind of interference. This came to mind because I noticed when I click on the mouse button, the lines stop. Take my finger off and I'm back to vibrating black lines. If this is the case, I wonder if there's a way around it without having to go back to my old mouse. And then, why does it only happen in the editor and no other applications, and why only after installing SP2???

When Midnight Synergy couldn't help, I went to Microsoft. I really like the features SP2 has provided, first off. Most people won't have problems -it SHOULD be installed. Anyway, I am taking Microsoft's advice. Uninstalling SP2 is very easy. Back-ups, etc. are done for you - when the problem is solved, I will re-install it. For the time being, I don't have it, and it is very irritating! No one should be afraid of SP2 - it is necessary and the majority of people do not have problems! And, as I said, if you do, uninstalling it is simple. So, my advice is install it - you can always uninstall if there's a problem!!!

I was very wary of installing SP2. I had heard nothing but bad stories. I even asked people if they'd had any problems before I finally plucked up courage to do it. But since I installed it I have no problems at all, I even got rid of some problems I had before.
It is well worth installing and some of the features are really cool, for instance it will tell me if my antivirus is turned off. My son's girlfriend got a virus on her computer because she didn't realise her antivirus was off - she'd turned it off to install something and forgot to turn it back on.
Majic, have you tried getting in touch with the manufacturers of the mouse, they may be aware of problems caused by SP2 and have a solution. The latest versions of software and drivers should be able to cope with SP2.

I've had SP2 installed for some time now, and have had no problems. I also use a wireless mouse and keyboard. The only issue I had with SP2 was how it "decided" that I wanted the IE pop-up blocker set to "yes" without telling me. Other than that, I've had no problems with it, and I do like some of it's enhancements and fixes.

They are both Microsoft, so yes, they have been contacted!popo wrote:Majic, have you tried getting in touch with the manufacturers of the mouse, they may be aware of problems caused by SP2 and have a solution. The latest versions of software and drivers should be able to cope with SP2.

Have you ever tryed typing: "whatever" then Ctrl+Enter?Midnight Synergy wrote:Can't help you with that one - my SP2 install worked fine, except my Internet Explorer is messed up a little. It will simply add "http://www." before the whatever and ".com" after the whatever.
Makes typing faster.
