Wonderland VGMaps projects for all six games

Post by Technos72 » Sun Nov 10, 2013 4:44 am

I'm a member of VGMaps which is a website full of ripped and originally-drawn maps for video games. I managed to complete a few projects myself using ripped material from games I play. One of my projects even got a "Maps of the Month" title. You can see the website here.

Now last night, having bought the other two Wonderland games last week, I started the map project for TOW. It consists of ripping textures from the .dat files and tiling them into a replicated map image with a program called Tiled. As for the models, I used the Alt-X trick to view the models from the top since the tiled flat textures I easily rip are positioned in an orthographic top view. After replication, I export the map as an image and I do a few edits with it on an image editor, like including a legend and adding a background.

And yes, I know the texture work isn't mine, only the map work. So for every map image, I credit MS for the textures.

I've already mapped all the levels of World 1. I plan to map both the classic trilogy and the WA trilogy if I have any WA games. The link to the TOW map list should be up in a few days.

And if the Hub wlv numbers, Adventure numbers, and Adventure wlv numbers were listed that would be really cool too. :)

I did consider mapping the entire hub in one image once I get to the WA half of the projects. And I am going to label all the adventure locations.

I've been working for five days on this and I'm almost halfway done the TOW project. Also, the link is up for the TOW maps.

Yeah, they do look like Wonderland maps.. Not really sure what he's complaining about.

I really like what you've done so far, Technos. Great job! :D

Wow... these will really come in handy. Well done, Technos72.

@Krishiv738: Maybe you were clicking on a map for a different game?

Just finished mapping all the 90 maps of TOW! Just gotta submit them all.

But it's definitely not over yet! Up next is the 176 maps of RTW! Twice as much as TOW! And then WSW, then the WA trilogy once I buy it...

This is an epic task you're setting yourself Technos. I've looked at the ones you've done so far and they're fantastic. Really looking forward to seeing the WA ones when you start them as it's not easy to get an overhead view in the game. Good work. :D
