New Place!
Have a look around, let me know what you think (before I decide whether or not to switch to this version).

I prefer XenForo (I have a spare license by the way) but I can live with this.
(Also, can we finally switch to https please?)

Re: New Place!
I'm going to switch over the address - both to test if the switch works, and for people to more easily see the change.
Still not 100% decided, but so far everything seems to be working well.

Re: New Place!
MS do you know if this is a error I saw that there was a new user called "Midnight Synergy 2" is it for testing or something? because if so I think the latest version of phpbb3 can test any users permissions, if I'm not mistaken.

That's just a test user I created to see if new registrations would work.

Re: New Place!
You probably shouldn't set the new logo to width: 800px...
EDIT: Okay, I know what's wrong now; you need to update logo_hd.png to the new logo, remove the width: 800px CSS styling, and update the .logo CSS class in stylesheet.css to:
(max-width is set to 70% so it doesn't clash with the search bar on the top right)

Re: New Place!
phpBB2 has been EOL for a while and has a plethora of security holes. Plus the experience is not great on mobile browsers and it's missing certain features (Global Announcements for example)
So the question is not if it's broke, the question is when will an attacker find the bits that are broke and exploit them for malicious purposes.

Re: New Place!
Hi tyteen,
could you try that hd_logo again... I've updated the hd_logo (but I don't have any system to test that hd display on). I think just chaning the logo should be enough, the size is auto adjusted from the original logo.
Thanks!
Patrick

Yeah, this is what happens if you don't apply the fix for logo size:Midnight Synergy wrote: ↑Thu May 24, 2018 7:55 pmHi tyteen,

With modern responsive design, it is much better to specify the width of images in percentages instead of hard-coded px values, as screens are often smaller.

Oh my, it's been quite the while since I've posted here.
It's nice to see things updated. Oh, and do not worry; I've not stopped playing Wonderland.
Just am very slow and, well, not posting much.

I have but one qualm:

Kidding aside, really great to see all these changes! I've recently been getting into Wonderland again after a long break, so this came just in time for me. Also good to see you've kept the good ol' original smilies.
Only negative thing I have to say is that the logo on top doesn't quite fit the color scheme. The colors could use a little toning down to make them less flashy and hard on the eyes.

Re: New Place!
Yes, the logo needs to be changed - this was a quick placeholder for now.
In fact, any suggestions for an 800x100 logo that would fit the forum would be appreciated!

I no longer receive E-mail notifications - HELP!!!

Re: New Place!
Oh wow what on earth happened here. It feels like I'm in a completely different website. I haven't tried all the features yet but I definitely am glad this got updated to phpBB 3 at the very least (I wanted that to happen for a long time). It's weird to think that just a couple of days ago the website looked exactly the same as it did when I joined.
I don't really know what to think of the new aesthetic yet. So far I'm liking it but it's gonna take a long white to get used to it. Also, just a suggestion, but maybe consider updating the main website as well? It hasn't been updated in 15 years or so and looks dated. You don't need to make the website a bloated mess like most sites are nowadays, but making something that looks a little more modern would definitely improve the experience.
Anyway I can't reply to the announcement thread so I'll say it here that I'm looking forward to the CD and this is something that I'd definitely buy since the old one I had is in terrible shape. I'm not sure whether copyright allows you to do that but by any chance can Krabby Quest be included in it? Not a fan of playing the DRM version.

Well, something is broken, I used to get E-mail notifications and now I don't:
Can some administrator here try to E-mail me through this new system? Let's see whether it works...

I haven't seen those boxes at all.Are you sure you click on email checkboxes as well?
I ticked them now, thank you very much.
Now what about other old users who haven't been here for a long time, for example Liz Mayhew, whose last post was in 2017 until I played one of her old levels and she was happily surprised on April 14th? If I played her level now, she wouldn't know about it by default.

Re: New Place!
Because of GDPR, it would probably need to stay turned off. (Although Patrick could send one last mass-email...)Amnon wrote: ↑Mon May 28, 2018 7:40 pmI haven't seen those boxes at all.Are you sure you click on email checkboxes as well?

Re: New Place!
Whatever "GDPR" means, yes, it would be important to notify everyone who has previously subscribed to one or more topic, that in order to continue to receive notifications from Wonderland they need to come in and change their notification preferences. This will also serve to remind them that we are still here...Because of GDPR, it would probably need to stay turned off. (Although Patrick could send one last mass-email..

Re: New Place!
GDPR is EU's newest data protection laws which applies to businesses that deal with EU citizens, whether they are in the EU or not*.Amnon wrote: ↑Mon May 28, 2018 8:52 pmWhatever "GDPR" means, yes, it would be important to notify everyone who has previously subscribed to one or more topic, that in order to continue to receive notifications from Wonderland they need to come in and change their notification preferences. One of the key consequences of GDPR is that if you did not explicitly consent for a site to send you communications, you cannot do so. I'm not sure what turned the email options off (Patrick or as a side effect of the update), bus since when you register on the old site, the "subscribe me to threads" option is checked by default, this cannot be considered explicit consent, therefore consent must be obtained again.
* how this holds up water in non-EU businesses is yet to be seen
Re: New Place!
All my notifications are set, correctly I believe, there are new topics and replies, but I still receive no E-mail from Wonderland.
OK, I just received one notice. It took a couple of days to activate, hopefully it will work from now on.

Re: New Place!
This could be pretty problematic, especially for users who don't usually check in and rely on those notifications to respond to people. Any thoughts, Patrick?Amnon wrote: ↑Mon May 28, 2018 8:52 pmWhatever "GDPR" means, yes, it would be important to notify everyone who has previously subscribed to one or more topic, that in order to continue to receive notifications from Wonderland they need to come in and change their notification preferences.
