New level - Honeycomb

Post by rmelin13 » Tue Nov 23, 2004 1:01 am

I submit, for your pleasure, a level which I hope you find enjoyable.
It's called "Honeycomb", and apologies are due the song lyricist, from
whom I borrowed some bits and pieces. I think it's public domain anyway. It's Peegue (of course), in search of a honeycomb.

:D

Enjoy. I hope you find it neither too difficult nor too easy.

Hi Roger,

Well, as usual I doubt that I completed this level as intended

I found the first 2 sections easy-peasy :D

I didn't use the wooden boxes or the boulder to complete the last 2 sections - so I found these to be easy as well :D

Then there was the centre section with the UFO which took me several attempts to master - so I expect I was doing that the wrong way as well

Still - excellent fun though, thanx,

Fe Fi UFO Flynn
I saw stars once again

After many cazillian tries, I decided the best thing to do was to get the UFO room route figured out first.
Even after doing that...it took me 2 more tries.

I know....you thought this up while raking leaves
Darn good puzzle, a real challenge!
Way to go!

malc -- thanks for the feedback. A wise person (ol'gramma) once told me that there's no "right" way to complete any puzzle. She's so right! :D If you completed the level, then you did it the right way. Good going!

og --- Not while raking leaves, no way! Sounds like you completed the level though? Hope so. The UFO section is kind of a pain. But at least I didn't hide any mother ships, like some others do !

::::: SPOILER :::::

lillian -- one way to get thru the UFO room is to make sure the UFO stays on the right side. Don't let him cross over to the left, except for one time.

One way to do this: wait until the UFO is in the upper right before pushing your box through the teleporter, and stay back. Wait until the UFO passes below you to the left, then quickly scamper through the teleporter, push the box north one space, grab the coin, quickly go to the right of the box and push it 2 spaces toward the water while the UFO passes from left to right. The deflector will now protect you from ONE shot, then quickly push the box in the water and scamper over to the left side, and start dumping deflectors in the water, being sure to avoid UFO fire. But the UFO won't cross over to the left any more.

There are other methods, such as self-destructing the UFO, but for my un-nimble fingers, that tends to be tricky. I hope this helps?

Here is how I did it:

SPOILER

When the metal box goes thru, that causes the UFO to change route and pass just below you, going left. I went thru the teleporter, the box gets pushed up 1, then I pushed it up 1 more and right 1. That created a buffer, and a safe spot. The UFO then goes in a circle path, but allows enough time on 3 passes to grab the coin and push the deflector into place, then push both deflector and box into the water to make the bridge.
Now the UFO is in a 2 pass on the right, and 1 cross over at the top right, into the trees. I had no trouble walking past the UFO, and staying out of the line of fire on the left side, due to the deflector at the bottom right.

Every scout has his own route
A really fun puzzle Roger. I enjoyed it!

A really enjoyable level, Roger. Loved the honeycomb theme.
It took me dozens of tries to get past that UFO though :x

Don't need any "little hints if you please" Roger! I figured it out - UP TO A POINT - HA HA HA HA !! I chose ol'gramma's route; hope you don't mind. My fingers worked better her way. In any case, this is an extremely fun and challenging level - the kind we like!!! (Not always the kind I make, but the kind we like!)

:D THANKS ROGER :D - AND HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!!!!!! :D :D

Well, I'm really glad that all of you are so lucky!! I FINALLY got past the bugger saucer only to be blown up by a kaboom before I could blink! I am so frustrated!! I've tried EVERYONE's way and I am just not quick enough. Great level--I'll keep on working at it. :)

Teri, you are not alone.

I am in tatters after dealing with those pony tails!

I'm determined to get through this one, if I have to strangle those PT's!!!
