New Level - Enter The Matrix (Adv)

Post by LEMARQUIS » Sat May 01, 2010 2:23 pm

Hi everyone,

This level is a tribute to the feature film entitled "The Matrix"! Loof is Neo and must escape the Matrix! The Shadows are Agent Smith. The Zbots are the Sentinels. So lets say you'd be Morpheus trying to wake him up! lol

Many thanks to Muzozavr and MyNameisKooky for their help on creating the last of my levels as I now retire from making levels...

I enjoyed creating levels but it just took too much of my time...

Please make sure you download all the models to get the full effect. :)

Enjoy and thanks to all players!

Hey LeMarquis,

You and your levels will be missed.  They are very challenging and so well thought out. The logic is incredible!

The art work that you include (textures, backgrounds, models) is exquisite. For those of you who have not been to Louis' website, I would hightly recommended taking the trip. (I looked for the link in one of the emails that LeMarquis sent me, but couldn't find it).

Many thanks for your contributions to this forum.

Off to play.

As I said already once... never say "last". You NEVER know.

If you want to say "last" then add "for now" or something. You know... never say "never".

The artwork is quite honestly astonishing. I especially like that model, disguised as a background. It's magical.
Rest in peace, Kym. I hardly knew ya.
Rest in peace, Marinus. A bright star, you were ahead of me on my own tracks of thought. I miss you.

Making this level was amazing. It was a pleasure to work with you, LemarQuis. :D

You're the best model designer I know! I hope to see you return to level designing in the future. Like Muzo said, you may never know when inspiration may strike once more.

How well I understand that.
You are wonderfully talented in so many ways, my friend!
And you will be missed.
Your masterpieces were all challenging and beautifully landscaped.
A delight to the eye and mind.
It was a pleasure to work with you. :)

Best wishes to you on the road ahead.
I will always remember you, my friend.

Just made a minor revision: I changed an electric tile type 1 for an electric tile ype 2 in the matrix section... That's it! just makes it easier a bit :)

I also added a wooden box and an extra coin in the matrix section to remove a loophole I totally missed... silly me!

Also although it worked fine in window XP, if you use window 7 instead, model3.3ds didn't show properly (the phone booth was showing all black instead of green for some weird reasons). I solved the problem and replaced it in MarquisM21A.zip...

What a pain!!!

Initially I spent a few days on a different path that got me nowhere (with just one coin missing), then I received some help from LeMarquis and still it took me another couple of days to complete it, even with all the information available.

While the main part is very difficult, I can recommend the puzzle that leads to opening the matrix and the matrix itself: these two great puzzles are not overwhelmingly difficult. If you find the main part too difficult, I suggest forgetting about the coin on top of the blue sphere and just concentrating on opening the blue gate. If even that is too difficult, just use the editor to place something on the blue button, then go and enjoy the matrix itself!

The blue and red towers (or are they phone booths?) are one of the world's seven wonders. I have no idea how the blue and red pills work, or what the cryptic messages on them mean, but just try standing on them...

Well, since this was my last level (with well appreciated collaboration of Muzozavr and MyNameisKooky!)... you can't expect it to be easy :)

This level is all about timing and logic, no glitch!

After testing it, you could easily get to the end as long as you didn't rush. Once you dial the timing down in 3 areas, it should be easy to reproduce everytime.

So I'm actually surprised of Amnon comments which solved levels way harder than this one (ex:Words of Buddha which was too hard... and I had appologized about it).

Amnon, I just sent you a complete walkthrough so that you can compare with the intended solution.

I just took a run at this and realized it was going to take me a long time to work it out (if at all) so I'll pass. Sorry, I just don't have the patience for these types of levels anymore, although I'm sure it's very clever. :)

I guess that's an other reason why I won't make levels anymore.. Most players want some easy levels which require practically no brain to solve. I thought there was a crowd in here for complexed puzzles that push the player to think outside of the box. I guess I was wrong so I truly feel unappreciated and there's no place for this type of creativity here... That's also why I'm out!

BTW Amnon, obviously you didn't watch the Matrix or you would know what those comment tiles refering to the blue and red pills meant.. The phone booths in the movie allow one to exit the matrix.. The door allow one to short cut between 2 locations in the matrix. Although in the level, it s not quite the same, I tried to use elements of the movie as much as possible.

In any case, congrats Amnon for solving my last contribution to the forum.

Good luck to all!

I'm sorry you feel that way. Personally I was speaking for myself not the entire Wonderland community.

I see the level was downloaded 45 times, so how do you know that there aren't scores of people working on it right now? It's certainly gratifying to receive feedback but I don't think it should be the raison d'etre for making levels, do you?

Anyway, good luck to you as well. :D

-go around, push blue sphere U as soon as the L zbot deflects on the wooden box
-step U in red TP and come back to center tower (2 zbots are turning in circle on each side)
-dodge zbot and walk U, go around and push blue sphere R to destroy wooden box on blue TP
-go around step on conveyor to reverse it
-dodge zbot and step R in black TP, come back and step D in red TP to return to right tower
-collect coin on Smith
-push blue sphere U when zbot deflects on the wooden box (there are 2 patterns for the zbots here! it only works when the 2 zbots are NOT next to the wooden box!!!) One of the zbots will die, the other goes back to turn around Morpheus
-step on ice curve and come back to center tower
-step L in pale blue TP to enter left tower
-step R on ice curve to enter pale blue from the top, collect coin on Trinity
-Step U in pale blue TP, step R in black TP

-collect coin, step L in green booth asa soon as the rolling sphere passes to collect coin in the open white gate
-step R in green booth as soon as green sphere leaves bottom booth
-follow sphere closely as you step U in the top green booth and quickly turn R
-push green sphere L when the rolling green sphere enters the top green booth (wooden box is destroyed on the green timer)
-quickly walk through the green gate before it closes

-push blue sphere U when the zbot is passing besides the conveyor (the zbot will turn around),follow the zbot to avoid death by the chomper (the zbot will destroy the barrel by the pink cube)
-get chomper to follow you and wait on tile on top of the exit gate. When the chomper is about to eat you, dodge L (the chomper explodes the barrel in the exit gate)
-get the last coin and exit (here make sure you don't go up after you collect the last coin or the green gate might close since one of the shadows in the matrix might push the boulder D from the green button!!! eheh!!!)

Sorry to bring up the topic. But I tried making the floor models like you did with this level using Milkshape 3d, but when I save and close the program after inserting textures for the floor model in the program, when I open up the program again with the same floor model, the textures are gone. That means the floor models in-game is all white. It worked once while making new wall models with multiple textures. But I can't remember. Help me please?
