How well I recall this level. It was posted on my birthday last year, and was the first Wonderland level to use hex editing.
To answer your questions.
How did you change the game focus to be on a ghost Loof?
If you enter a teleporter at the very start of a level,
there is a glitch that shifts the point-of-view below the selected character.
This is corrected when entering a teleporter again.
Wondering why you need to hold the up arrow key?
What explodes and how the sphere and the barrel destroy themselves?
The up arrow has Shadow Loof push the boulder down to destroy the barrel and the blue sphere beside it.
This generates a sphere that rolls left through a fake wall passage to destroy the barrel and the box blocking Loof.
With the box and barrel destroyed he can freely walk right.
The point-of view shifted below Loof gives the appearance of an out-of-body experience.
