Chain
This is going to get even more confusingDiscGolfer wrote:
Maybe eeyore31, majic1, malc, olgramma, carolyn, Robbie, jg. littlejg, or anyone would care to pick up from where I left off with Part 1.![]()
The idea was for one person to make a section, and for the others who follow to add their own sections. No additons, deletions, edits, etc. This way the player would go thru sections designed by several of the talented RTW enthusiasist all in one level.
I should have explained this in greater detail. The idea of my section was to get the boxes through the teleporter making a bridge so that the coin could be grabbed and Stinky could go off to the next section. Then he enters the part created by the next person. They leave Stinky at a point where someone else can easily take over. It is very important for each designer know what the previous person had in mind for that section to avoid confusion.
Confusion? I'm glad that's something that doesn't happen here![]()
So.... Who would like to carry on from my part, and who will get it after that, and on and on?
If there is not a reply to this I will let this idea die a slow painful death

I added signs, so this will only be able to be a 5 part chain.

Here's my little contribution.
But first, here are the rules we have come up with so far:
1. Play the previous section(s). If you have problems finishing or figuring it out, contact the author. THEN:
2. Begin your section AT THE POINT where Stinky ends up on the previous section.
3. DO NOT CHANGE, REMOVE, ADD TO OR ALTER any previous section(s) in any way, shape or form.
4. When a new section is added and you wish to carry it on, IMMEDIATELY POST THIS FACT (to prevent two or more people picking it up at the same time).
I've also discovered, you should probably add a row of empty space around your section where possible - when adding on to the other sections, it's easier to see where other sections should end & begin. (This won't always be possible tho, I'm sure.)
Let us know if anyone thinks of anything else as they're trying this out.
SOOOO - who's going to add Part 4? (Only TWO parts left to go.)

Chain 1-2-3-4-5
OK everyone! I have tried my hand at finishing this level!
Hopefully everything of mine is in order...
All of the parts, previous to mine, would make excellent stand alone mini-levels.

FINALLY!!!
We have finished our FIRST chain level. And what a great finish! I couldn't wait to try your ending, ol'gramma, but kept screwing up in other sections & having to start over - you know, pushing a box when you didn't mean to, standing directly in the line of fire of the cannons - that kind of brainless activity! I was ALMOST finally to your finishing section and managed to push a box directly against another in Carolyn's section - what a DOPE!
Sure could use that go back button! Anyway, great finish. However, I think in the future, as the level progresses, we will need to add on more time as we go along - I finally gave up and turned off the timer for this one!
How about the next one, we start from the END and work out - at least we can "exit" each time we have completed a section! We will have to start another very soon - I really enjoyed that - playing a level that everyone has contributed to!

majic,
I think starting with the exit is a good idea. It probably isn't going to make much difference when you get to the middle.
Oh for a 'GO BACK--UNDO' button. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE
I should have looked at the time on this.... I knew there was something I forgot
. I never play timed, guess that is why.

Maybe I'll start a new one in the next few days - starting with the exit section - that's if no one beats me to it first --which is ALSO fine with me. I just think this is kind of fun. It's something DIFFERENT for us to do! So if anyone else wants to start it before I can get to it (which may be a day or two), PLEASE DO!!

I briefly played around with the chain level. It is fun although I haven't completely solved it yet, timed or not. As a proof of concept for a chain level I think it is a complete success.
It's also perfect for people like me who by now probably don't have enough time and skills to ever put together anything substantial enough to be called a level, but might still have some hope of putting together just one small part of a chain level. So yes, more please! (I'll try to come up with something for the next chain level over the weekend, but I bet by then other people here would've already come up with enough parts for 3 more chains!
)

Well guys, the jury has finished its deliberations and the verdict is in and it's a hit.Bearsland wrote:My contribution, Sir, shall be to play the level and offer either a group congratulations or a severe thumbs down to you all.DiscGolfer wrote:Don't worry "Old Bear" you'll get to play, and contribute if you like.![]()

This was great fun; a really brilliant team effort. Well done to you all.

Where is everyone thesedays? PM me and say hello.
I see chain level #2 is already in the works and I still haven't managed to play thru chain #1. I've finally gotten thru DG's part, after many attempts (that's a good one!) but I haven't gotten thru JG's box/cannon/reflector puzzle yet. I haven't even looked ahead to see what comes after that. I hope I can finish this one before the next one is posted.
Has anyone finished this in the 5-minute time limit?

Yep. 3 mins 15 secs here, but I think it can be done faster.Dianna wrote:Has anyone finished this in the 5-minute time limit?
JG's cannon/reflector puzzle can be done quite simply if you plan ahead exactly what you want to do. I managed to do it with just the boxes at the bottom; I never used any of the 4 boxes at the top.
What I will tell you Dianna, since you haven't looked further on; is that there is something that you can do on jg's part that will eliminate a sneaky little trap in a later part of the level. It's very clever; it links three different parts of the level together beautifully, reminding the solver that having got through a section does not mean that something 'back there' can't still kill you.

A great level indeed.

Any cleverness was purely unintentionalIt's very clever; it links three different parts of the level together beautifully, reminding the solver that having got through a section does not mean that something 'back there' can't still kill you.I'm not sure if it was done by design, but if it was, it's darn clever. And, no, I'm not saying what it is you should do.

I agree with thatA great level indeed.
