New Level - St. George's Day

Well it's St. George's Day today so I thought I'd be patriotic and do a level. It's really easy, pushing a box on ice, but don't lose the box cos you need it to get home!

It's very similar to my Union Jack level, but this is the England flag.

I liked the level.although I am impatient,.. and I am good at blocking my box,..LOL.But it was cute and fun!!!!!

Actually Carolyn, it's sadly a very poorly celebrated day in England.

There are campaigns on the go though to get it a bit more recognition.

Speaking as a Scotsman living in England, even I think it should be celebrated a bit more than it is. Unfortunately, our government think making it a Public Holiday means people having a day off work which (they say) is bad for the economy. Fools!!

Great puzzle for an after lunch treat. I live right next to St. George (of course it is in the USA.

For those of you in the US who did not know, (like me) and maybe a few in Europe as well (

I searched and found that St. George is the Patron Saint of England and his day is somewhat similar to St. Patrick's Day in the US. The Legend is that slew a dragon.

It's been my experience, Majic, that most "Irish patriots" I know take the next day off to recover from all the green beer they drink!

I wear green, but I can't stomach drinking something green, not the Shamrock Shakes from McDonald's, or even Grasshoppers...just the thought...blech!

You're right Jersey - the police even put extra men & squad cars out on the night of St. Patrick's around here!!! I think whether people are Irish or not, it's just another reason to party.

AND - I AGREE TOTALLY - green drinks are also something I just can't stomach even trying! YECH! And what does it look like when it comes OUT??? (I can just see me at a St. Patrick's Day party, celebrating, drinking GREEN drinks; having to go & going to the bathroom - all of a sudden there's a LOUD SCREAM from the direction of the bathroom!!)

Did you want to borrow someone's Depends the next time you drink green beer? There seems to be plenty of us that are well stocked, at least for the forums around here anyway.

Didn't think that there were that many Irish decendents in Arizona!?!

Halifax has big bar celebrations, and nearly everyone takes part in the Wearin' O' the Green here too, but no parades or anything like that

My grandfather's family was Irish, so they did partake of the Wearin' O' The Green, and ate Irish stew and such, but that was all. For the majority of people around here it's an excuse to drink on a weekday, too. I had a boss who's parents were Irish, so every St. P day he used to wander around the dealership pouring Irish Whiskey into everyone's coffee. Made for an interesting evening watching the guys trying to sell cars half tanked...never was a strong sales day.

It's considered racist in this country if you're patriotic. Waving the flag may cause offence to ethnic minorities

England, I think, is the only country where you have to be more aware of other cultures than your own....***gets down off soapbox***
