New level: Road to Morgantown (part 2)

Post by Mahaloof » Sun Aug 27, 2006 10:40 am

Another one completely devoid of trampolines, shadow Stinkers, books....
Oh, and NO corny jokes whatsoever. Promise!

This one uses the same Morganroad texture, see part 1.
And the Arch1 model, which most of you die-hard gamers should have.
Otherwise visit Mette's site for the full collection of models and complete enjoyment of many many Custom levels....

No way I'm going to do this!  It's far too hard.
Rest in peace, Kym. I hardly knew ya.
Rest in peace, Marinus. A bright star, you were ahead of me on my own tracks of thought. I miss you.

I'm really sorry Mahaloof - I just can't seem to get anywhere with your recent levels :( They look so brilliant and it must be awful for you to have put so much work into them and have no-one completing them!

I don't know what to suggest - perhaps a walkthrough of sorts - because I would love to be able to complete one or two of them for you! :D

Help please :)

PS: You are so funny, I love reading your comments and are a great asset to the WF :D

:D :D :D I agree with Lillie, Your levels are so brilliantly put together, 8)
I know you put alot of time into them. But for us mere mortals they are so challenging.

I do love you signs. :D :D

I'm not sure awful is the word. Or maybe that + befuddlemisted. It is certainly disheartening...
I agree with Lillie, Your levels are so brilliantly put together
LOL! How do you know if you can't solve them? They may be completely and befuddlemistedly unsolvable....
Allright, here's my theory: you folks just don't like the Dutch, do you? Envy us, because we founded New York and discovered trampolines in 1672? I thought so!

Apart from 'Grand Discovery', I have a hard time believing my levels are that hard. I'm having a tough time myself with most of yóur inventions!

Oh well, SPOILERS!!!!

The goal of the first puzzle is to get the transporters lying at the base of the 2 generators. For that, it's a good idea to remove 2 bonus coins and open up space to receive the transporters. But leave the 2 lower bonus coins, as they will stop the boulders that will come with the transporters. Now then, you need to drain the red and green boulders, of course, but not in any old and crude way, noooo! If you want to get all of the coins (and who wouldn't) the fires need to be extinguished and....oh well: just ditch the reflector (I haven't been able to find a use for it), push the grey boulder south, then west. Next, have Loof gently bring both the grey and red boulder in a southward direction. Then switch to Stinks and have him do...guess what? Then step out of the way, because conveyors can be quite treacherous. You should be able to figure out the rest. If not: let me know, OK?. I've worked on this level since spring '79....

I honestly have tried this level again and again, but apart from this level being too hard, I simply do not have any time to solve a level of a football field size. As another question grows, I'm not sure if such a large level can be solved at all within a time level.
Hey, because nobody's now looking, I'm going to try again. Right here, right now. :D
EDIT: No. I give up.

How about Road to Morgantown (2), Bob? Nobody has reportedly solved that one yet.
All right I solved it. I'm sure I did not do it as intended but it was a lot of work nonetheless! I found that most of the generators were of no use to me so I only used three and built some bridges!

I've enclosed two screen shots, one for myself and the other for anyone interested...lots of red spheres

Thanks Mahaloof and BTW, I didn't get the KILLER JOKE

AAAAaaaaaaaaarrrrrgggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

WHAT. A. MEGA. BUMMER.

Worked so hard on this level and am proud of it too.
I tried to duplicate your work, Bob, and can't even do it. How......oh, never mind!
In Holland we have this saying: "....like an elephant in a porcelain shop." That's how you behaved. But all is fair in war and the other one, I guess. (My dog, I feel depressed..)

Anyway, the idea of the first puzzle is to get Loof and Stinks on the transporters, followed by the ultimate cooperation trip over the water towards the middle of the level. The boys definitely have to work together here.
Oh, and the generators next to the exit are both vital.

You're dangerous, Bob, and I will notify Patrick right away. So there!!
 :? :?

No. There was no other way that I could see but following the path you had laid down.

Everyone who has ever posted a level has had someone solve it in a way they had not initially intended. I personally do not make many levels, but those I have posted have occasionally been solved in ways I would never have imagined. Part of the fun! :D

Hm, thanks for putting things in perspective, Bob.
I also console myself with the idea that your way is just as hard as my solution. I can't even pull it off...

Finally!!!

Well, my solution is very different than Bob's (amazing picture, all that RED, but no, I could not even think of placing them there!) as well as from yours, Mahaloof. I guess that with so many generators and loose objects (red herrings?) there could be a dozen more ways.

At least... the time-pressure was not as bad as in #1.

Anyway, in the way I solved it, I did not remove the bonus points near the red generator until the very end. This means that I used the red-generator much less, only to: 1. extinguish the fires in the second pool. 2. make a bridge for the tamed red chomper to come and block the south-end of this generator. 3. destroy the box over the red teleporter. 4. send 2 red balls for the end-game. Also, the green transporter was activated only once.

It was GREAT FUN with the floating team picking all the points on the middle section!

Thanks for another amazing level.

I was much more satisfied with this than with part I. But yes, the way it was constructed I set myself up for lots of loopholes. Too bad you didn't take a picture, Amnon. As with Bob, I can't imagine just what you did and how.
But great to finish anyway! :D :D

I can easily repeat it, but how can I take a picture of the screen?

It's easy: just press F8. A screenshot.bmp will be placed in your Wonderland folder. I usually open it with some Photoshop program and turn it into a jpg file (much smaller). Be sure to have done this before taking another snapshot, or the screenshot.bmp will be overwritten. Good luck!

Well done Amnon!

It seems both you and Mahaloof know there is a way to the end that uses a little more finesse than my "...gorilla in a tea-shop :D" technique, so I think when I have some time I may take another run at finding the fabled route!

Thanks for the pics, Amnon. :D

Below you'll find the situation(s) as I had intended them. Note that all coins and bonuses have been collected.

Have fun, Bob!

Got the trick!

The problem is how to get the two boats up towards the middle part without setting out the balls in the 2nd pool in a way that will allow them to leave together (and not hit the flames). Now I found how you did it... an amazingly dirty timing trick! with this, of course you don't need those red and green balls at all (except to destroy the wooden-box and the end-game).
