User count
The site says that there were 1748 users online just yesterday? What is up with that? (Granted, the vast majority of them were probably guests, but still...)
Re: User count
Good observation. Most probably spams, I think we'd better report this to Patrick.TwingleTheScraggler wrote: ↑Mon Apr 28, 2025 11:19 amThe site says that there were 1748 users online just yesterday? What is up with that? (Granted, the vast majority of them were probably guests, but still...)

Re: User count
By the way, now the highest count is shown as 4410 today.
Re: User count
It's not spam. It's web scrapers. There's invasive ways to reduce them, but unless it's significantly harming the performance of this website, it's probably not really worth it.

Oh. I read that the Internet Archive uses them. If they want to preserve the forum for posterity, then I don't see any problem with it.

Though it does make me wonder how many human users are viewing the page at any moment.

Few to none, if you look when the scrapers are inactive. People who find this forum will likely make accounts even if they're inactive.TwingleTheScraggler wrote: ↑Mon May 19, 2025 5:47 pmThough it does make me wonder how many human users are viewing the page at any moment.

Then not many people are finding the place. Bear in mind that MS has not released a brand new game in some time, and the releases on other platforms will not automatically lead to new users on here. This forum is using somewhat old architecture and requires manual signup so it takes patience to get in to use it.TwingleTheScraggler wrote: ↑Fri Jun 06, 2025 7:56 amWe've only had six new users this year.Wonderman109 wrote: ↑Thu Jun 05, 2025 12:17 pmFew to none, if you look when the scrapers are inactive. Do you think Patrick will eventually update the architecture, in case it becomes compromised?Wonderman109 wrote: ↑Tue Jun 10, 2025 10:34 pmThen not many people are finding the place.
