Heh, I saw it a long time ago; my dad, me and his good friend from Britain watched it together.
I like the very end a lot, too (this is a spoiler though, so I'm not going to say it).

I sure have played. The fly trap looks weird. No I did not see little Shop of Horrors.

All those who are wondering why their ideas didn't enter, are encouraged to highlight this:
About new ideas (yes or no)
First, a trailer is a trailer... it cannot show all the game's content. Maybe your ideas DID make it in then?
Second, particularly about Steel Kegs and Rainbow Chompers.
With Steel Kegs you've given a very vague description. If you won't give some better description of what should they do, it simply isn't possible to put it in in the reasonable deadline. The time is coming...
I think Rainbow Chomper idea is gameplay-wise good, but might be hard to program. I'm no specialist here, but it seems that proper pathfinding might be a problem. Again, the time is coming...
Third, the game is not released yet, so many things could be changed even if the time is coming and some parts of the trailer might be simply WRONG after the release, although I don't think so.
Fourth, even if your ideas didn't make in, they might get in the next game.
The Raft suggested for Deluxe version is a perfect example. It didn't enter. But in the Platinum, it was expanded for void and lava, and entered under the name TRANSPORTER.
Fifth, even if your ideas really really didn't make it in, shut up a little bit, because the main point of the game is to be FUN, isn't it?? You might still like the game after the release. Moreover, with the spirit shown in the trailer, quite a lot of ideas don't fit. Sharks for example... Steel Rock for another... Early variant of Special trampolines with each jump multiplied by 2... (overflow) Jupiter trampolines... (the game is reverted to more grid-like engine) So, what if your ideas simply don't fit here? Designing the game is like solving a jigsaw, but with each piece made-on-fly. If some pieces don't fit it often can be a painful remove (especially when all the code is dependant on this particular object!). Who knows, your ideas might just be the main charm of the next game! Who knows...
The fireball-spitting flytrap... Hmm... "I wish it would stand somewhere else, though. Unless, of course... ???" (Loof)
I think it's a cannon with some sort of new abilities!
Rest in peace, Kym. I hardly knew ya.
Rest in peace, Marinus. A bright star, you were ahead of me on my own tracks of thought. I miss you.

Just three quick points, and maybe we can lay this issue to rest?

- the above quote is not mine (I don't know who wrote it) - just so that there's no confusion

- while I certainly read the ideas in the "fun ideas" thread, I know that many many of them simply don't apply to Wonderland Adventures. Many are great ideas, but they don't fit the game. In fact, I always thought that the thread was more in line of ideas for a potential future rtw update (note the word "potential").

- and finally, while I do take your (collective) opinions into account, there is obviously no obligation, stated or implied, that any ideas actually make it into a game. I think the "fun ideas" thread is great, and lots of fun to read, but it certainly shouldn't be taken as any kind of a "feature list" for an upcoming game. That would only disappoint you.

And Lucky, thank you for that very nice message. Let me just say "You're welcome!" :D

If I have great suggestions I make a code example of how they would work so ther is no confusion and it's not as hard to implement

- the above quote is not mine (I don't know who wrote it) - just so that there's no confusion
If you mean that Loof's quote in my post, it's a sign text from platinum level 03 "Meanwhile..." and was related to push cannons.
So, just that you didn't post it under the nickname "Loof" on the board doesn't simply mean that it isn't yours.  Unless, of course... ??? (Unless, of course, someone suggested you that level or that quote, just as it was done sometimes for WSW. ) And so I thought that if that quote was related to new cannons, it would be relevant here.
Totally true. I see many early ideas in this thread that simply don't fit for the game. Gameplay-wise or anyhow...
Especially true with the light of previous point. It would be silly to take it as written-in-stone, while even screenshots weren't so.
(And yes, I'm a particular fan of that quote, especially that end "Unless, of course... ???" that cracks me up!)
and maybe we can lay this issue to rest?
I say pleeeeeease never! They are always interesting to discuss, and even if something will be outdated, Peegue's Puzzles never die out... 8)

I was referring to the long quote (the one in inviso-text) in your post, not Loof's quote. ;)

Editor: I think I mentioned this in another post, but I don't think the editor will be part of the original WA release. There's enough to do as it is to get the game finished, which is my first priority. The editor will need to be cleaned up 'for public consumption' which will take a little longer.

The one in inviso-text is not a quote, because I wrote it myself. Really.

Muzozavr: I know, I just wanted to point out that it wasn't my quote. (since it does say "quote" in the post). Anyways, I think we've exhausted and confused this enough. ;)

Spelling mistake?
I had to watch several times to see were it was.

Patrick, I am not complaining about mouse control vs. keyboard control, it is just that old dog...new tricks kind of thing. I am sure I will enjoy WA as much as I have enjoyed all the others in the Wonderland series.

Lucky: Well said!

I'm really looking forward to this coming out. I'm all for the mouse control, I've been playing adventure point and click games all year so I've got very used to it. It might get a bit hairy if you need to move quickly to and fro though, like dodging things for instance, but I'm sure we'll get used to it soon enough.

Can you still pan around the board in the same way as before, so you can see what's up ahead of you etc? Or will we be just able to see what's within range of the character? If the latter it might make planning ahead a bit harder.

It is possible, but you have to be quick. In fact- It could be easier. e.g: Stinky is stuck in a room with a chomper. Make little Stinker go above cannon as to lure chomper. chomper dies. Move Stinker to button and open gate for Stinky.

Q's

Post by paulm12 » Fri Dec 08, 2006 3:01 am

I have a few Q's for MS.

1. Do you buy the game when it comes out and get the Level Edidor e-mailed, or do you have to buy the games seprate.

2. How many levels (or tasks, or quests are there)? How many areas?

3. If the game is NOT arrow-key-friendly, will there be little arrows you can click on to move?

4. Will the game be a download or a CD (or both!)?

5. Will we use the same discussion board?

6. Will Wonderland Adventures have a "Pull up level from RTW" feture in the edidor?

7. Will Wonderland Adventures be on any other game platform? (Wii would be nice)

I love the look of the new game, especially the Little Stinkers following Stinky.

I don't mind mouse control, as I've played loads of games with it. For me the best sort of control is a gamepad. So much more comfortable to use and so many more possibilities.

Janet, Popo and John - I love the 3D outfits. Well done all! :D

Janet, Popo, paulm, lots of questions - few answer. ;)

I have a scrolling around option to view more the playing field, but it's not what you'd expect from your experience in Return To Wonderland (it might also not survive the final feature cut). You cannot switch between Stinkers per se - you only get to control one in the game - but you do get to control and interact with lots of wee Stinkers at once, again it's not what you'd expect from your experience in Return To Wonderland. Many of the gameplay elements from the original games are not present in Wonderland Adventures. And those that are, well - they don't work the way you'd expect from your experience in Return To Wonderland.

See the pattern? ;)

I've said it before, I'll say it again. This is a very different game. Anyone expecting basically "Return To Wonderland SuperDuper Edition" will be disappointed. At first. Then, hopefully, they'll try the free demo and will fall in love with this game, too. :D

As for pricing, when/if a level editor is available, the Wii port, I can only say one thing: there is no Wii port. ;) (I wish). Everything else is still in the (rainbow) stars.

I like the new game because it has RPG in it. I have some trouble figuring out the puzzeles in the original, SW, and RTW. I'm wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy looking foreward to the relese of WA.
