That once I cheated a level I could NOT go back and retrieve the gold key when I finally learned how to do it!! What happened was yesterday....as...(and any old hippies will appreciate this)...Mercury was in Retrograde

I was in nuttsville trying to finish Crossing the Rivers in Forbidden Forrest....and in a moment of

cheated the level....only to realize that I was on the Side of the Star and only had to walk a few feet!!! So I tried in vain to go back to saved games to do the level over....and I can but there is no way OUT! because the Gold Star that usually finishs the levels is Not There!! Even though the gold star is bright yellow where you step on the entrance to the level.
Holy Cucumber.
Yet, I just finished Button Down, and it took me most of the morning...BUT! I was not going to quit...no matter what! Just thought that you guys would like to know........

Are you saying you couldn't get a forest key when cheating the level. You can't have! The keys are given after the level, not in it.

Not sure about this level - but you should be able to go back to Wonderland (via your singing crystals) and visit the Floing Back In Time Man and redo the level and then save your current game and then play your crystals to return to the Forest?
Someone correct me if I am wrong please
You made me laugh when you said ".... and I was in Nuttsville..... " Brilliant!
Good luck - and may the force of the crystals be with you maaaaaan!

No, that doesn't works. But you can get it later on the end of the game. I think.

I have the forest keys...and I got the star....but....I did not get the coins that were so easy to get, nor the gems....and I was on the right side all along where the star was.....well, I am now in sunken paths...somehow I got back to those stinkers and found another path to the left of the rapping dude who eventually gave me another Star! =) .
I don't know about the floawing thing, for I think I have covered up those earlier games when I played Button, Button, whose got the Button...now..that wasn't it...uh....Button Me down!

...see...I am still having some reprecussions!

If you have the key and the star then that is cool - you can go visit the Floing maaaaaan and replay any level you have played to try and get all the spondoolies later then!
If you need help finding him in due course - I think Erwin the Merlin has posted screenshots of where to find him on this forum somewhere!

Thank you and everyone for all the help......really, would have been next to impossible to do this alone.....or...something quite close to it....

...going back in and I will be looking forward to chatting with Floing Man.......at the right thyme. (my spelling of that illusion)
