MOFI - Crab Columns

Post by cookingcassy » Wed Dec 17, 2008 1:03 am

How do you get both gems in Crab Columns? I run out of Grow pops before I get the one in the rear (the one north of the orange gate)?

Here is a hint:
Before going after the gems, think of a way to get back to the grow charging pad so you have more grows. There's only one way to fill that water hole...

Easy enough to fix however...

Darshan! That's how I've always done it. I thought it was intended!  It's still just the right amount of difficult with that unintended solution. :D I'll have to think of a way to do it without filling that. :?

I did try, I couldn't do it any other way.

As Loirae said, I think it is fine (and the difficulty is right) the way it is.

I have wondered why it is so important, not just you, but also some other adventure designers, to have only one way to complete an adventure? Explain please?

Really, it is a fine adventure, even when done  the wrong way

To me, it's because, when I make the level, I have an idea. So, when I make the level, I make it for that idea. When someone finds an unintended solution, I feel like the level isn't 'right', because the player didn't see the idea that I was showing. Does that make sense? :?:

If it's fine the way it is, then that's fine. Maybe, if there wasn't that unintended solution, the level would be harder than it should be. :)

OK I see what you are saying.

I'm really glad you didn't say "Because that's the way I want it, and everyone will have to beg me for the answer! Bwaa Ha Ha..."
Really glad!

This adventure was on my "go back and get that gem" list for quite a while.
You see, walking over a bridge and having it disappear after I cross has conditioned me to think "I have to save my grows now because I can't go back." Because that was the way it was in the last several adventures. When I finally took my blinders off, I said "Why that sneaky little....er....guy!" Hiding in plain sight is always a brilliant idea.

So you see, I saw you as sneaky and brilliant, and what ** year old doesn't like to be thought of as sneaky?
My grandson would say brilliant is embarassing, but sneaky......is......SWEET!

I played this over and over trying to figure out a way to get that other gem, counting how may grows I needed etc. Then the  came on and I had a Eureka moment. That was a really brilliant moment. So if this is your level Darshan you did it good. If you didn't intend us to have that Eureka moment then pretend you did because I think levels with these moments are far better than over difficult ones.

For the GROW
One grow stands "forever", the more you have, the faster they burst. Where do you need the crab to go? If it's on one of the buttons, I found it useful with a well placed grow
EDITED, I forgot the white

Janet, I know

One grow does not last "forever".
(It just seems like it if you waiting for it to expire.)

I think this is a very clever level Darshan, and I too am glad there is an unintended solution because I'd never get it otherwise! I haven't got 100% anyway.

I still can't get that last gem north of the orange gate ... I have plenty of grows, but from the shore I can't hit the right spot with a grow.
If I get on the transporter and try to make a grow in the right spot it doesn't work. If I make a grow, ride and stop, wait for the grow to disappear and then make a grow in the right spot, I'm stuck because the transporter won't move.

So I'm one gem short

Lizzie, you're going in the right direction but you have to ...
put some grows around the transporter to your right too so you can step off and on again to change direction, and then the same again to get going again. I think it took me 4 or 5 grows to do it.

Darshan, you may be happy, for I did it your intended way, at least I think.
I used the grow, to stop the travelator on its way up, twice. Once to go to the red gate and once for the yellow one. But I was almost out of time.

So I only used 9 pair of gloves
Is that the way you had in mind?
But I have to admit that I first wanted to do it the same way as the others. 8)

Another question: Is it supposed to be possible to step diagonally from one travelator onto another, but not diagonally from a travelator to the normal floor or to an open gate?
