Pawelec's Texture Special: DeSand (version 1.1 is up!)

Post by Pawelec » Sat Oct 12, 2013 1:42 pm

DeSand 1.1 is out! Scroll down to see the screenshots and the texture itself.

As md suggested I made a desert texture. I decided to make the brown one. The name comes from Desert + Sand = DeSand. It's based on the Jungle Temple texture from MoFI and the walls are revamped version of Acid Swamps ones, the dried mud is taken from the Red Cave texture.

Comments are appreciated! :D

Changelog:
v. 1.1:
- changed the mud texture to the seamless one from Faithful pack,
- made the circular shadows look more natural.

Strange - 70 views a day and only 3 comments.

Any suggestions for DeSand modifications or another texture?

A good futuristic laboratory texture would be nice.

@DeSand: Whoa, that's probably the best desert texture on the forums.

That would be REALLY hard. I don't know if I can manage this  I'm good at organic textures, industrial/architectural ones I tried to make came out rather ugly. But give me a week and I'll see what I can do.

Oh, thank you :)
In my opinion it isn't that good, but what except sand and rocks can you expect from a desert texture...

Could you try and make a texture that looks like a meadow?

There is a trouble with meadows - to look natural they need to have 3D grass, what is impossible to do in WA engine. Lime is in fact mountain meadow texture (I can easily imagine sheep and some spruce trees used with it), WA's Windy Hills texture can also be considered a type of meadow. Also, I don't think meadows as such can make it into Wonderland, as they are relatively flat, while Wonderland needs walls to make puzzles work.

So I'd say no to the meadow texture, sorry.
