I have been bombarded by MS tool removal

Sorry for another topic but there's this MS tool removal program that keeps telling me that my computer is infected, right now. And I have to buy it's software to clear off the threats.

but guess what

I have figured out this whole thing is a SCAM just to make me buy it. This software was made by the same people who make the system tools virus. It just popped out of nowhere a while ago saying I have infections when there are no infections on my computer. But it keeps saying to me over and over again that my laptop is infected and wants me to buy their software. I need a software that can get rid of this for me but MS tool removal won't let me open applications.

Now what do I do? I'll have to find out for myself...

If you can't kill the virus, you should be able to disable it. That's what I always do and it works. However, this is really dangerous as you might end up removing a vital program on your computer if you're not careful.

First things first, you need to find out what process the virus is. Open up task manager (CTRL+ALT+DELETE) and click on the "Processes" tab. Google each process that looks suspicious. This is the most tedious step, but it's worth it if you really want this thing off of your computer.

Once you find out what the virus is (make sure that you're REALLY SURE that the process is the virus) go to your start menu and click on "Run". Type in "regedit" (without the quotes). You will then need to find the process in your registry. Finding it is the hardest part; you might need to Google around to find out where you need to go. Once you find the virus, delete it from the registry.

Restart your computer and voila, there should be no more virus. :)

meh no posts again :?

Anyway somehow my problem was solved. All I did was go on a page where there was a list of registration keys for MS tool removal. So I became a pirate for revenge, copied one key, opened MS tool removal, then I realize the thing was registered and cleared off the "fake" infections. :D

now sing with me

But still, be aware of MS tool removal and remember that it's a scam for your money. Try what I just did or reboot using Safe Mode and try to solve the problem from there. When tool removal attacks you, you may not access programs. Maybe getting a pirating key would work and you would be consitered as a "good pirate".

I had one of those about a year ago. I had thought Windows was installing an update because the site had used Windows icons, but really it was a fake anti-virus program. The version I got also corrupted all my browsers to take me to spam-sites, so I could download more malware. Even when I removed the virus and its registry entries, its effects lived on. I wound up doing a complete system re-install rather than tracking down all the crap it left behind.
