My CO2 Car - A school project (sketches done)

Post by Technos72 » Thu Oct 14, 2010 10:50 pm

Name isn't letting me put small 2. Oh well

Anyway in my automechanics class we are beginning to build our own CO₂ car which is a small toy car powered by carbon dioxide gas. I'll be working with...

- Sketches
- Wood
- Paint (I think it's model)
- Power tools
- Wheels and axles
- Science

At the due time on which the project is supposed to be completed, which can be four weeks, we will race our cars against students and other automechanics classes in the cafeteria. Our car has to be lightweight and not fragile. So we have to do some balancing with those two elements to make the perfect car. I'm thinking of my CO₂ car to be Captain Falcon's Blue Falcon vehicle. We start tomorrow by sketching our car. And I'll post some pictures during the process.

Interesting, but how is that possible? As far as I know all engines use C(so many)H(so many) CH4, C2H6, C8H18 etc. (or perhaps some O added so you get an alcohol) and Oxigene, and the result is CO2 and H2O.

So how is it possible to use CO2 as fuel?

He didn't exactly mean fuel. By CO2 as fuel, he meant those in your soda and those in canned air conditioner cleaner.

(read: compressed CO2)

Thanks. I see. So a CO2-capsule is used on the car, in a way of a jet-engine: The high-pressure CO2 escapes to the back-side, so the car moves forward.

Here is your CO₂ (with the 2 at the bottom. I found it on Mac OS-X, didn't search in Windows yet, but they talked about symbols in another topic)

I would say the top-left one.

And here's an idea for the painting.

Sorry, I posted a picture of a Ferrari formula 1 car. When I posted it, it was there, but later it didn't appear. Not sure why. Maybe you can see it here: http://wallpapers-diq.net/wallpapers/17 ... C_2004.jpg

Now that I'm writing a new post, I see the picture in my previous post. Strange things happens. :?

Edit: Just after I posted this, the picture appeared, but after pressing the "refresh" button, it was gone.
