Last night, a lunar eclipse.

Today, its 70 degrees F.

That depends on what you mean with "winter". Astronomic winter (on Northern hemisphere) starts always 21 Dec, because the sun is above the most Southern point possible. (tropic of Capricorn) The same with summer on 21 June. On Southern hemisphere it's just the opposite summer and winter, so in Australia the summer starts today.

Meteorologic winter and summer however start on the first day of a month, so 1 Dec or 1 June, but that's probably because that's easier.

I didn't know about the eclipse though.

It started approximately seven weeks ago for me. It's the coldest winter I've ever had. Although I never seem to get cold myself.

I'm a bit curious what "winter" means for you then. So far I only knew the 2 definitions of "winter" I mentioned in my previous post.

I never heard of that. I think the most common use of the word "winter" is the astronomic winter, also because the first day of the winter is the shortest day, and the first day of summer is the longest day. Also the beginning of the autumn and spring (23 Sep and 21 Mar) is when the sun is above the Equator.

As for the meteorologic winter; I think they find it easier to say the winter is December, January and February, instead of: From 21 Dec until 20 March.

I didn't mention it on the forum, but where I am, we got snow during the last week of November this year, and a SNOW DAY on December 1st.

I had only been in school for two days after Thanksgiving Break (U.S.) before getting another day off!

The first snowfall for me was in OCTOBER.

According to your relitive my winter lasted a day, stoped, and started again in december 2 months later.

No offence!

This one time, it snowed realy hard.There was a snowstorm, like 7 schools were closed and mine was open.The bus was 15 minutes late(and it was freezing), I was the only person at my bus stop who did not go home, in 5 minutes I could of gone home without my mom caring, I was on the bus for more that half a hour, I was in school for about 30 seconds before homeroom started, then I went into class and started swearing about it.

All is true and not egsagerated.I even watched my watch for that half a hour on the bus.

Seems quite nonsense to me. There is no place on Earth where the winter starts in April! It's either December or June.

Your right, I made a silly mistake, took 4 rather than 6. And for the 23, 5. It is not easily felt at that latitude range. if you are in middle southern sea somewhere around 18-21 (for example - Cape Town, winter starts somwhere in the end of April and lasts till June end

Then I guess you're talking about meteorologic winter. In the winter it's cold and in the summer it's warm. BTW Cape Town is not about 18 or 21 degrees South but 34 degrees. So I guess it's coldest there about from June to August, but I've never been there so I can't say for sure. It just seems logical to me. It also depends on warm or cold streamlet in the ocean. Anyhow the farther from the Equator, the more difference between meteorologic winter and summer.

That's not Kelvin, otherwise you would be dead. But 80 degrees F is about 27 degrees C which is only in midsummer here in NL. So where do you live that it's so warm in winter?
