That was the version I knew too when I was young. There was a second verse too:

Up Jack got and home did trot
As fast as he could caper.
Went to bed to mend his head
With vinegar and brown paper.

This one was so well designed CathyIII. Lovely hill climbing and tumbling down effect.

Liz - I saw that when I was checking around for more rhymes that I may have forgotten, but I never heard anyone say that.
