DP

Ok, I've been buzy with other stuff, so I haven't gotten far on this thing. Right now only the first paragraph is done. Now, I don't actually know what most of the chatrecters look like. Can you guys tell me what the folling charecters look like?

Jamiff
Wiener
Ned
Squiddish
Throlls(what color, when he has one?)
Spoofy
WildScritter
Nyak(What color?)

Edit:Preview time! Stinky, Qookie, and Peegue will be in the scene but I'm too lazy to put them in now. I'm gonna go play ET4 or ET3 or something.

Just My opinion, but I prefer real Animations over 2d Game Maker Platform-ishness. I also prefer real voices over text. No offense.

It plays itself out like a animation, but true, it's not a real animation. And it's platformy.

However, as far as the text goes, I'm gonna be putting voices there as well(asuming they are made. *shot*). Having text is somewhat a good idea;not evreyone has speakers. *shot*

If someone else can animate it, go ahead. (with eee's permision)
Until someone does platform-ish Game Maker "animation" is all we got. :P

Since voices came up, that reminded me...should I post what I have for lines? Nobody(not user) made a script, so I've been writing the actual dialouge myself.

This is cool when is it gonna be done? And voice and writing is a great idea.It can be helpful for people who can't read or hear.Who will be playing the voices?

No voices! It will sound awful, unless they're done by the mighty Patrick himself.

Do you REALLY want the cutesy-high-squeaky voices from RTW/WSW? They are cute as a one-off quick line, but a fully voiced character with such a voice will become annoying very fast.

If you want voices, probably some other people from the forum could help. I cannot due to a terri-bad microphone that produces too much hiss. A bit of a shame... Potentially I could (with some edits to make it sound "electronic") voice the Z-Bot Commander and make him a low-voiced, so-serious-it-becomes-funny villain, maniacal laughing included. But my microphone is epic fail.

Plus, right now I have some sort of a virus, and my nose is right now permanently stuffy. And trying to voice with a stuffy nose is FAIL.

I never said that. But from previous experiences, the voices in-game would just feel... strange if it's not polished enough.

Oh well, I probably don't know what I'm talking about. If you guys really want to, go ahead.

Thing is, I haven't actually seen how it looks in action... maybe I should download the demo. So maybe you're right after all.

But if people do want voices, fandub is the way to go.

OK, I just saw the demo and... well...

Background is good, characters are... OK (based on the stinker smileys, I assume?) but the biggest problem is that in such an animation you can only have one camera angle EVER, which hurts the potential a lot.

(Minor complaints: spell-checking please. Also, the text box feels graphically out of place for some reason that I can't quite put my finger on.)

Overall, this is surprisingly good, but the "one camera angle EVER" issue is pretty troubling.

A few things:

For voices, we can add them and then I could give you the option to turn them on or off. That's one of the few reasons Game Maker is good for this.

I could change the angle if I feel like making more sprites.

Ah...spell check. I get that about evrey five seconds. I'll fix spelling later on...or mabye someone else could write a script.

I could have the text type itself out at the bottom of the screen, without a text box. Mabye. Would you like that? The only problem is how to tell which chareter is talking...lol.

I could make the voices squeeky. As I said a bunch of pages ago, I have audacity on my side. :P

Yes, they are based on the Stinker smilies. I took some stuff from Wonderland Platformer...I plan on "importing" the running style into it so they won't just glide. :P If I'm not lazy for long eneugh.

It's not only the angle, it just doesn't look right.
boywhoflies wrote:Ah...spell check. I get that about evrey five seconds. I'll fix spelling later on...or mabye someone else could write a script.
I might write a script for this. Oh, and you spelled "every" wrong. And "maybe." *shot*

How about:
"Stinky: WE GOTTA SAVE LOOF!
Qookie: How?"

or that type of thing. You know, putting the person's name before what they say.

As I said, "It's not only the angle, it just doesn't look right." 2d doesn't really fit with animations. In fact, why call it "Animation Special" if there is no actual animation? I haven't seen the preview, but it's not looking good in my head using Game Maker. No offense, it just doesn't seem appropriate.

I'm thinking that MAYBE it would be possible to pull off as "genuine" animation by video recording specially made WA custom adventures and then adding own music, voices, etc...

Or maybe doing something like that with RTW and specially done backgrounds/textures. After all, RTW has ALT+X and we can get ANY camera angle we want.

Guys I think everything is going just fine,I mean the stinker smiles.Hey maybe me and Boywhoflies can both be animators BWF will do the easy parts and I'll do the hard parts like screams and stuff

Some other things...lol. I should orginise these types of posts, hun?

Actually, there is actual animation in it. The running is a animation. But that's mostly it, saddly.

So rename it to "Game Maker Cutscene Special". *shot*

Yeah, the persons name thing would work.

By that logic, you could just record this. *shot* For real though, that might work better, because of angle and stuff. And it's 3D.

Eee, no offence, but I think the actual "animation" would be the harder part. Not that it's hard, but it would be a bit harder than voices. Now trying to figgure out what the heck Kooky created that save engine in the ET series, that's hard.

As far as the 2D thing goes, lots of (somewhat)popular animatons are 2D. The Lazer Collection, Adsfmovie, Nyan Cat...Besides, a lot of animation programs are 2D. Actually, I've only seen 1 3D animation program in my life.
And who says because it's with Game Maker it has to be 2D? I'm say I'm pretty good with 3D Game Maker stuff. If someone can supply models...

You can't. If you need to add sounds/voices/music, I can do that from the actual Game Maker thingy.

Well, if we do end up making this, PM me when I should voice someone. Preferably someone young since my microphone makes me sound like an 8-year-old. No kidding.

I know, but I didn't exactly mean that. I meant that it is...well... 2d. Flat. Side-scrolling. All the movements appear to only go left or right. No "up close" things. Or something. It's just looking like a 2D platform game. It doesn't seem to have an effect on me if it's like that. No offense, but I prefer Eee's way if this is going to be an animation.
