I would just like to say something before I go to the Convention (just incase Auntie Mo murders me or locks me away)

THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH AUNTIE MO!

I know how much time and effort you have put into this Convention and I just wanted to let you know that it is very much appreciated! I am so excited I can barely function today. You are one of the kindest, sweetest, funniest, honest, friendliest people I have come to know on this forum. You have always been there for me when I needed a shoulder. I cannot wait to meet you and John (thank you to John too).

Three cheers for Auntie Mo and John - HIP HIP........ HORRAY!

You two are making me blush!

I'm a bad tempered biddy at times, not sweet at all (ask John. :P )

It hasn't been all me giving you know, I've received such kindness from everyone these past few months when my health wasn't so good.

I just wish everyone could be here to enjoy themselves, it's been a pleasure arranging it and helped me more than you'll ever know in taking my mind off things.
Lilo and my 'Wee Lassie', what a turnaround it has been for us. You two are so easy to love and I'm not the type to be gushing niceties.

Shortcake, you will soon feel part of all this on Saturday. Auntie Mo never breaks a promise so I'll say 'talk soon'.

Now I must get on, still got the beds to make up and some wee bits and pieces to see to.

Thanks for the lovely sentiments girls, you've made me feel very special today. xxxxx

You will have me in tears next Shortcake.

Today is the big day and I've got to get ready for the airport, be heading off in the limo around 9.30.

Lutz phoned yesterday to verify he'll be arriving around noon, poor soul could hardly understand my accent. Hope you and Pam don't have any problems with it.

Just wanted to give my thanks to all the people who have supported us, you will be here in spirit and we'll have lots to tell you next week.

Keep the home fires burning while we are away.

Love to each and every one of you nutters. xxx

Mo, you're one in a million, a real star. There aren't many people who would gladly turn their house over to a bunch of nutters. :D :D

Maureen, it is funny that you mentioned your accent. The other day I was thinking what accents those you across the "big waters" would have. I would love to hear each of them. I bet all of them are beautiful! We read your written words, but never can hear the beautiful part that makes you who you are. It's similar to not knowing how someone looks and having an image in our minds. Please never be embarrassed about having an accent and not being able to be understood. I will bet that you would have some trouble with some of the accents in the U.S.!

I would love to be a fly on the wall and listen to some of those "mixed up" conversations ! ! ! ! ! !
We all get in to some "fun"ny muddles here, just because of the different words and expressions that get used.

After being over here for 40+ years, Gen, every where I go, people ask me where I'm from.
What's even funnier, is the fact that I get asked the same thing when I go home to England
I guess I'm just unique, and talk the same way

Ann, I can identify with that! I was born and raised in Florida by parents from Indiana. When I went to college in Kansas, they kept asking where I was from. Later I worked for 17 years in North Carolina, when I came back to Florida, old friends and family made fun of my southern accent. I think we do tend to pick up the accents of those we are around the most.

I got a phone call from Mo at the convention last night so that I could have a little chat with everyone and not feel left out. :D

I was a bit worried that I wouldn't be able to understand anyone except the English ones, Liz, Lillie and Kazza. But Lutz, Rose, Mette, and Inger all speak beautiful English and I had no problem understanding them. Not sure if they understood my broad Yorkshire accent very well.

In fact, the only one I have trouble understanding is John, Mo's husband, with his Northern Irish accent. He has to speak v-e-r-y s-l-o-w-l-y for me to get what he's saying a lot of the time.

Popo, that is wonderful that you got to speak to the conventioneers! I know you really wanted to attend (as did a lot of us here in the states). It is good to know they all made it to Ireland safely. I imagine they are all having a blast. Best wishes on your health, hope you can attend next years' convention!

ahoy shipmates .. looks like I'm the first one home.

We've had a fantastic weekend. Friday was very surreal for me, I was very tired, very homesick and SURROUNDED BY NUTTERS !   Saturday brought good weather, party games (based on Wonderland would you believe) and lots of food, drink and laughs.

This morning, I confess, was a bit hazy - must have been something I drank and I didn't get chance to thank you all ...

Lillie - for the entertainment and your kindness when I was missing my boyz.
Lizzie - for your tribute - you must share that on the forum
Rose - for your special gift, i will treasure it
Inger & Mette - for that looooong and thoroughly enjoyable chat.
All the boys - for helping me put my tent up - and take it down again - and for your cooking skills on the BBQ
Lutz - for getting me safely to the airport

Last but not least - THANKYOU Aunty Mo and John for your kind hospitality and making this weekend special.

I won't say too much as no doubt the other "Nutters" would like to share their memories with you.

All that's left to say is "When's The Reunion ?!" :P

Hope you all get home safe.

Luv Kazza xx :) :)

Congratulations Kazza on being the first one to escape Camp Mo-lditz. :P

Did she pack you up some spare ribs for the flight home? If you had one of her cooked breakfasts, I'm surprised the plane managed to take off. She knows how to feed you, does Aunty Mo. :D :D

I hope there's lots of pictures to look forward to so I can kid myself I was there. Glad you all had loads of fun, and didn't get too drunk that you couldn't get up this morning. You'll all be needing a week to recover now.

Btw, what did Mo do with the dogs last night? I couldn't hear them barking at all while I was on the phone.

HELLOOOOOOOOO!!!!!! I am back home safely too!

We had such a FANTASTIC time - Auntie Mo and John were such brilliant hosts. We all felt so much at home from the minute they met us at the airport in the Limo! Auntie Mo is one of the funniest and kindest ladies you will ever meet - she had us laughing our heads off all weekend, and John was absolutely brilliant fun too. The poor man must be exhausted with all the running around he did for us!

I have never eaten and drunk so much in my life! Well, actually, I didn't drink at all yesterday because I was still drunk from Friday night! We had such a great time!

It was fantastic to meet everyone else too - you are all a great bunch of people. We all seemed to get on really well and everyone's English was so good! I can't wait to see everyone's photo's and the video too. If anyone took a picture of me falling over drunk - please destroy it straight away! :o :o :o

It was good to speak with Poops and Pamster and Fruitybun - the line was very faint but it was great to hear your voices!

We all had Wonderland T-shirts that Auntie Mo made for us (with Poops help) and Rose brought us all a Wonderland mug which was very sweet of her. Lizzie had made up a really funny Wonderland song - she performed it with a pair of Wonderland Alan Wickers on her head - it was hysterical :D :D :D

Thanks again to Auntie Mo and John - you are very special people and I will never forget what you did for us xxxxx

It sounds like you girls kick up your heels and let your hair down a bit.

That is good, means you all got on well together.

Good you are back, now back to making some levels.

Can't wait to see the pictures, I wish I gotten a phone call. O well it's nice to wish.

Well, from the reports that we've received so far, it sounds as though a Wonderlandful time was had by all.

This is a great big WELCOME HOME to all the weary conventioners.

. . . . . and an even bigger THANK YOU to Auntie Mo. Even though the rest of us weren't able to be with you, we have all enjoyed the fun and laughter your 1st Wonderland Convention 2005 has brought us. We can only imagine all the hard work, expense, worry, organization and planning that went into the whole affair. I now we would all have been quick to offer help if we could have been there - but, bless his little cotton socks, John was there to take our place, so we can all sit back and enjoy the aftermath, without having to help clean up          Life's great, ain't it ? ? ? ? ? ?

Hurry up and post some pictures, Mo. We can't wait to see what all the drunken revellers looked like, and how they looked the next morning too, especially those that slept outside in the tents. I bet it was fun (! ! ! ! !) but I bet their own beds felt good when they got home.

It's been a fun 3 months, helping you plan the great "do". Hopefully I speak for every one when I say that we wish we could have been there, but you have helped us all feel so much a part of the fun, it's almost as good - we just didn't get to share in all your cooking - bummer ! ! ! ! ! !

Now - what about 2nd Wonderland Convention 2006

Here I am back! (everyone groans OH NO!)

From the moment Mo and John met us at Belfast airport it's been a laugh a minute. What wonderful hosts Mo and John were - starting with Bucks Fizz in the limo on the way, endless food and drink, games, songs and laughter. There was so much food at the BBQ, there would have been enough if all of you nutters had arrived unexpectedly. And the people in Northern Ireland gave us a warm-hearted welcome too. It's a great place to visit.

THANK YOU BOTH - IT WAS ABSOLUTELY FAB!!!

I was asked by the poor misguided souls at the Convention to post the song I made up, so here it is.

THE WONDERLAND WONDERWHERE
WUNDERWEAR SONG!
(To the tune of Chase Me Charlie
Lyrics by Liz Mayhew)

When I flew into old Belfast town
Who do you think I’d see?
Aunty Mo and her big man John
And Lutzy made it three

Well Mo she looked a wee bit cold
Though wearing her kilt so bright.
So I gave her a hug and I said “Hey Mo
Are you sure that you’re all right?”

And she said “I’m so chilly, I’m so chilly,
Lost me Wonderland drawers,
Oh please Lizzy, Oh please Lizzy,
Won’t you lend me yours?”

(I seem to have lost me own!) Says Liz

Then up stepped Lillie and company
And Mo said “Please lend me your knickers”
Lillie said “Sorry I can’t my friend,
I’m wearing Alan Whicker’s!”
(I dinnae want to wear his!)

“Oh Maureen, we will knit you a pair”
Volunteered Mette and Bjarne,
First we got to catch us a sheep
And then we’ll spin the yarn.” (Och itchy!)

Chorus

Well Kazza wanted to buy her some,
but all her money was spent.
“Lend me a needle and thread” she said
“I’ll make you some out of me tent!”
(Cheeky)

Now Lutzy had a bright idea,
And pulled out a bottle of rum,
“You don’t want to wear my lederhosen,
‘They will chafe yer … some”
(It’s a family site remember!)

Chorus

Along came Inger and Gunnar too,
They took in the scene at a glance.
“In Norway we don’t wear knickers at all,
To keep warm we just dance.”
(Too breezy!)

Now last of all came our friend Rose,
And she had the very best thing,
“Put these on Maureen and then you’ll be hot”
And gave Mo her golden string!
(Don’t they make yer walk funny?)

Chorus

Now after all this I just stood still,
And was me face a bright red!
I hadn’t lost me knickers at all,
I was wearing them on me head!

 :D  :o :) 8) :P  :P  :) :o  :D

Hi Poops - Barbara 'ere me old mucker

Mette and Bjarne texted me last night - they were too tired and it was too late for them to come onto the forum - but they got home safe and will come on the forum some time today.

Rose and Lutzy stayed on an extra night at Mo's. I don't think Lutz returns home to Germany until Thursday and I am not sure when Rose will be back?

Poor Mo is probably still cooking their breakfast this morning, but I am sure she will come on-line once her and John get themselves sorted out.

Auntie Mo very kindly gave me a popcorn-maker for the boys. They had me awake at 7.00am this morning saying "Mummy, when are we going to Sainsbury's so we can make some pop-corn?" Monkies!

Speak soon - I'm off to Sainsbury's!
