Well you can have any kind of killing mechanism. You could have some lava held up by signs at head hight to kill them without destroying the drops, have a drop to bedrock to kill them with fall damage, or if you were just trying you get Enderpears you could just put some water down and made it flow though a hole so you can collect the pearls.

Well, I mean, the kill mechanism thing in the video destroys the drops. The actual trap works fine.

Well yeah, that was obviously just an example, in his LP world, he has a different system involving some lava and pressure plates.

I went off of Peaceful today for the first time(I'm a newcomer to the game). I was climbing out of the ravine that my house is in(I built it into the side of the wall because digging room shaped holes is easier than actualy building one). There are 3 ladders I need to climb to get out:One that brings me from the middle floor of my house to the top floor(which has a useless balcony-thing), one that brings me from the balcony to a stone bridge across the 2 sides of the ravine, and one from the other side of the bridge to the surface. I got to the 3rd ladder and realised there was a Enderman right beside me that I hadn't noticed before. On first sight those guys ate mad creepy. I backed up and fell off the ravine wall before I remembered they don't attack you until you look at them.

P.S. I heard from a friend you can tame creepers. Anyone know how?

Okay, I'm fairly sure this is just me, but is anyone else finding dungeons much more frequently post-1.8? Normally within... I dunno, a 4x4 chunk area I'll find a dungeon or two, before 1.8 I used to find maybe one or two in more than twice that area.

For that matter, I've generated a new save for 1.0.0 and spawned near a cave. Walked inside, noticed some caved-in gravel, dug around it and...

Yeah same here! I generated a world in a 1.9 pre-release, and found a village, under one of the houses was a dungeon, visible on the steps.
Then, in the neighboring desert area, I noticed some caved in sand while flying, upon investigation I saw a lining of cobblestone at the sides, and dug out the new-found dungeon, which to my luck had a double chest! :D
(I really like that texture pack, what's it called? It's like a HD remix of the classic textures)

Hmm. So I guess either dungeons are generated more frequently, or due to the new terrain settings, they're more visible than they used to be.

As for the texture pack, it's called Faithful. It's a 32x pack, and yes, as the name suggests, it's basically an "HD" version of the default textures. Here's the Minecraft Forum thread.

Oh, right, I remember seeing that pack before. I think Notch said something about dungeons being more frequent though, which is a good thing because that means more cocoa beans for COOKIES! :D

What an educated response. I truly commend your knowledge, or by the smallest remark, whatever fraction of it you have exerted into scheming this reply.

I continue my quest to hate any texture pack above 16x by using a 5x texture pack.

Yeah, I think the dungeon span rate is increased, although it might be an unintentional side effect of the new world generator.

Just like how the Far Lands were accidentally fixed in 1.8 by the new terrain code.

The Far Lands...
-shudder-
Anyone else totally creeped out by them?

Anyway, how to you find dungons, anyway? Like hope there's a entrance in the side of the cave you're mining or walk a while away from your spawn point then dig or what?

Yeah, I think now that its land that generates under sea level.

Wait, are you saying it's still generated, but in the normal Minecraft area under the water? 0.0

They're randomly generated underground. Then again, underground can also mean "1 block underneath the beach" but it can also mean "generating inside of the bedrock layer."
You just have to mine until you find one, I guess. There's no specific tricks or anything, to be honest.

OIC. Thanks.

My ravine level(the seed is "gargoyle" if you wanna see what it looks like. Well, the ravine itself at least, it's right next to your spawn point)is the only one I go on, and now that I think about it I think I turned off vilages and stuff. :/

I use the seed 4. It is a mushroom island seed and the island is huge, you spawn on a swamp, and then you head out to the ocean, look for some sand, and when you turn slightly you should see a huge island in the fog. :D

Why would you be creeped out by a world generation glitch?
