For those who're curious why: if you take the finished word "yrsvjrt" and shift it on your keyboard one key to the left it will then say "teacher".
Tricky Puzzles
Now you're right, mqdar. The letter "t" is the answer!

I didn't really use that form of logic (if any).
And your logic sounds more logical.
I only tried a 'follow the sequence' theory (which isn't really a theory at all)
Here's what I did.
Original question here:
1
2,2
1,1, 2
2,2, 3, 7
1,1, 2, 6, 10
2,2, 3, 5, 11, 23
I used columns, instead of math. First 2 columns go from 1's to 2's, 3rd column goes 2,3,2,3,2,3, etc. 4th column starts at 7 and counts in reverse, 5th column starts at the 10 and counts upward, 6th column starts at 23 and counts in reverse.
(and you wonder why I call myself dizzy)

Since Mqdar doesn't say anything I have a new puzzle. (Don't know if it's tricky
)
You're on your way to the city, and you come to a place where you have to choose left or right. One leads to the city and the other not. There are twinbrothers there, you can't see difference, but you know: One of them always lies, and the other always speaks the truth. You may ask only one of them, no matter who, only one question. What question you have to ask to know what's the way to the city?
A small variation: It's also possible if there are no twin brothers but only one person, and you know he either always lies or always speaks the truth.

For two persons: "Will the other person say that this road is safe?" Answer "Yes" means it's NOT safe, answer "No" means it is, doesn't matter if you ask the liar or the truth-teller.
For one person: The only thing I can think of is so incredibly cheesy:
"If you'd have a twinbrother, who is a complete opposite of you, if you always speak truth, he always lies, and vice-versa blablablabla continue with question 1".

Anybody home?
It happened in that terrible night, my beard growed/grew(?) a handwith, that I left my camp for there was a bear in the neighbourhood. I walked south for an hour and then west for an hour. Then I thought it was save, so I went north for another hour, back to my camp.
What was the colour of the bear?

Okay, you asked for it
:
There's a spy who wants to enter a town. The only way to get in is a gate which is guarded very well. So he decides to watch the inhabitants of the town as they are entering. A first person comes. The guard asks "6?", and the person responds "3" and passes. Then a second person comes. The guard asks "12?" and the person responds "6". This person may pass, too, and the spy thinks that he knows the solution, so he tries now. But when the guard asks him "16?" and he responds "8", he gets arrested.
What would have been the correct answer, and why?

The correct answer would be to secretly show the TRUE password written on paper, and the number talk was a dud.
If not, then I guess 9? (following the sequence of 3, 6, 9...)

Dlcs, the guard was sober - at least sober enough to remember the correct solution
Marinus, sorry, I don't really want to add other persons. But of course I'm a nice person, so here's the correct answer to "16?". You might be even able to get it now, but I don't think so:
Dizzy, you *could* solve the riddle only using the information you have. There are no special things about the persons who enter or anything. It's just so incredibely absurd that I'm pretty sure you might never get it.
Everyone: I'll probably post a few more hints in a couple of hours, but right now, I just enjoy it too much to watch your ideas - and how far they are away from the correct one.

The correct answer would have been 7

The correct answer is 7 because SIXTEEN has 7 letters
Got it before I read your spoiler

OMG Lutz, there was me building horrendously complex math schemes that would tie these numbers together.
To be fair, though, I WAS distracted by a very similarly-worded riddle where the solution was dividing by 2 until you meet a prime number, rounding down if you meet an odd number.
