I have no clue how to destroy the shooter plant thing, and when I just get close to it at the beginning of the level it starts shooting at me and I die. Any spoliers would be greatly appreciated!

Highlight:Run away from the position in which you are in when the plant leans its head back to shoot. Read the signs and you'll complete it soon.

Will signs shield fireballs?
It's just that I have dieinyourcomputergamophobia, which I obviously made up.

The fireflowers can only die by a bullet from another fireflower.
Wait till they fire and get out of the fireline.
Sometimes it's more handy to wait aside a doorway till the fireflower shoots and then move towards the doorway and hiding behind walls.

You can also stand between two fire flowers, wait til they put their heads back to fire and move quickly!!, they`ll shoot each other
