is it possible to allow attachments in PM?

Patrick:

This has come up a number of times, where I want to attach files in a PM to someone else, or conversely others would like to attach files in their PM to me. But currently you can't do file attachments in PM, so people just make a post on the forum instead. But there are cases where that is not desirable for various reasons.

So just checking to see if it's possible to turn on file attachments in PM (if that's supported in the first place).

I've had the same experience with PM's - this would really be a nice feature to have working. Currently, we just end up emailing each other anything with attachments.

good point. You can e-mail me at stinkynloof "at" yahoo.com Note it's "stinkynloof" not "linkynstoof" as it is here.

Well, now that Patrick's back, I think it's time to re-ask this question once again.

I've also seen in one phpbb2-style board that it is in fact possible to allow attachments in PM, so I'd think it's just a matter of Patrick activating that feature. So, will you do it?

Was that AC3D, LNS? Their board looks exactly like this one.

I've had a good read of their forum and even downloaded a plugin for AC3D which helps with texture mapping. I've bought AC3D aswell btw, cos it's better for making models than Milkshape. I made the Christmas tree in AC3D. I did make some tinsel too but by the time it was added to the tree the polygon count had gone way too high so I left it out.

How are you getting on with your projects? :D

I've enabled it now. Do be cautious though when you get attachments that you know who sent it and what's in it. Also, for sake of my database size (and hence time to do backups), I would really appreciate it if people wouldn't keep too many attachments hanging around in their inbox (i.e. delete the message when you're done with them).

No, I haven't visited that board yet. For that matter, I haven't touched AC3D in a while, but hope to get back to it soon.

It's getting there. I'm currently focusing on the one that tries to fix the vertex order problem. I actually have the "core" part of it written, but what's holding me back is dealing with the details of reading and writing 3DS files. Hopefully it'll be ready by this weekend. I must also mention that my free time is shrinking again, oh well.
