The player freezes

When I try to play 5 coins and 10 gems the game freezes my computer. I get about 2 screen inches then Zap. Though once I made it as far as the fire flower. I'm running Windows XP Home.Any suggestions?
[edit] Possibly nevermind. I set the compatibility mode for Windows 98 and it hasn't frozen so far.

Not sure what that could be... have you tried other adventures? Other screen resolutions etc?

Here's a suggestion if it's in Full screen, you should try to change it to Windowed. I myself use ONLY windowed when I have the option - I have Vista. Vista has glitches on some games. Some SERIOUS glitches.
Vista + SERIOUS = Crash/BSoD(Blue Screen of Death, A. K. A another crash)/messed computer/messed internet/etc...

On your desktop Left CLick, Select Propoties (Personalize in Vista) On check the last bar.
