How to cath the thief in the wonderland museum temple

I'm stuck in the museum temple. The shard is stolen by the thief, but I can't catch the thief. How do I do that?
I have the blue key but I can't get in to the sewer. How can I get in?

1. You can't catch him when he's the temple...
2. Stand in front or diagnolly from the gate, go to your sack, and press the blue key!

I stand before the entreance near the 2 blue round steppingstones and when I go to my sack and press the blue key, I'll get the message
to use a key, stand directly....
Or is this the wrong entreance?

Yeah, where the twart is going is to the sewers but you can't go that way because he locked all the gates behind him so you have to go outside and below the temple. And thats where the sewer enterance is!
Sorry if I wasn't being clear enough...
