The Wonderland Board

In the previous versions there was a way to scan across the level area to see locations of hidden gems etc and to be able to plan your game play but I can't seem to do it on this one - can anyone help?

In camp, talk to the pirate guy. Go through all his dialog once, then twice. Then he should say something about a Spy-Eye.

But what camp and where is the pirate guy? I've just started the game and recued one stinker

Then keep playing, you're not there yet. Even in the first WA game, you don't get the Spy-Eye at the beginning.
