Hello, I have just found something weird which you probably know but
just in case I am going to show you anyway...
If you want I could upload more weird tiles like that one (if your interested).
Just download the level and step on the break tiles twice.....

Very spooooooooky indeed.
That was cool! How did you make it? Did you hex edit it or place some object over it or what? Tell me, I'm curious!
Upload more weird tiles! That was interesting! Those break tiles just don't want to break. They must be afraid of heights!
Kind of off topic: Speaking of weird stuff, can anyone tell me how to edit the color of the boxes and stuff, like editing the .res files? I can't find anything about colors or RBG anywhere in them.

Okay then, I will tell you how I did it, your right, it was intirely hex-editing
Here is another one with some mysterious spikes which really rarely go
up ( I call them spike type 5 )....
Off topic: with the res thing, if you look in your return to wonder land folder they should be their... You can't acess changes of the res files in the game, but if you look in the RTW folder then their should be lots of res's
(sorry if you are still stuck)

I know where the res's are, but I want to know how to edit the colors of the objects and stuff in game (Unless you said the changes won't appear). Sorry to bug you.
Nice spoooooooooky level by the way!

Hmmm, If you edit a res file with paint (for example) then you can mess with the colours and make it look different then save it with the same file name and make shore the extension is a DAT extension, now some where in the game some thing will look different...
(sorry if still stuck)

Glad I could help...
Also tomorrow I might be able to post another spooky level!
(but z-bots are "non-custom-models", not res's, and you can't edit "non-custom-models"

)

Okay, I can't wait for the next spooooooooooky level!
About the .res files, does that mean I can't edit the enemies' colors?
Posted: Sat Jun 20, 2009 2:01 am

It means you can't edit any objects, only tiles
(at least I think so)

Meh, that's what I thought at first. Oh well, that still works to make some EVIL pictures with the floors.
And those type 5 spikes are more like type 10 spikes!

MyNameIsKooky wrote:Actually, I think I saw a picture of a lava cube once.
Yes, because thats a tile not an object...
(see picture)
The cube is in the second lowest section, which is at the tile section...
Everything in the red circle is tiles.
Everything in the blue circle is objects.

Ooh ok. I edited it at the same time. Ooops.
Thanks for all the help!

Sorry for double posting but I have another!
You can walk on nothing!

Those are some nice and interesting spooooooooky levels!
I thought I had the res files, but I still couldn't do it.
About the res files, I try to open them with paint but it says that it doesn't support the file type. I tried renaming their endings with .bmp and .jpg but that didn't work either, it just came out blank. Do I just make a new paint file, draw all over it, then rename it in place of one of the .res files?
(Sorry that i'm so stupid about the res#.dat stuff.

)

Hmmm, some of the res files are audios...
So you might have picked one of them, try some different ones, say if it works after then.

"It's a res edit, you didn't make it!"

(Hello again)
Actually its not just tiles you can change you can change other stuff as well like: the menu title (res 51 and 50 I think), or all the sparks that fly out
when dead, or even the textures and backgrounds can be changed...
(Hmmmm, that reminds me, is the colour of Stinky's hat the same colour as the dark blue teleport? I think it might be.)
Thinking about it, their might be a couple of objects you can change....
And if you make a copy of your changed res files and save the copy as a jpeg file you can upload it and other people can download it (and they can change it to DAT files again).
Anyway: SPOOOOKY stuff!

(Hi again!)
Ya, I saw the menu, loading screen, letters, particles, some textures, and some other stuff I couldn't recognize when I was poking around the res files. I think I saw something that looked like a plasma box texture when I looked around the res files. Either that or the texture for water... Or both.

I'll experiment with it in a little bit.
Also, I have some of the basic hex knowledge for hex-editing some stuff. I haven't hex-edited any of Wonderland yet, but I'll experiment with some values in a little bit. Though I bet I'll get a lot of MAV's if I do something wrong.
I'll see if I can make any spooooooky stuff with some Hex.
Edit: Woohoo! I made some weird tiles with hex!
1st level: Push the box onto one of the blank tiles and see what happens!
2nd level: Walk onto the blank tiles.

I noticed that "Kooky" rhymes with "Spooky". Coincidence.
Anyways, step on the empty tiles to die!
This level has
death tiles!

WOW!
I was wondering what all those blank tiles were up to....
Posted: Sat Jun 20, 2009 9:26 pm
by MyNameIsKooky
They are evil blank tiles, I guess.
But they are not that good compared to yours.
EDIT:
Want to make a list of all the hex-edited weird tiles that we know so far? I mean, like say what the hex is for it then say what happens when you interact with the tile in-game?
Posted: Sat Jun 20, 2009 9:41 pm
by billy bob
Hmmm, we could!

Posted: Sat Jun 20, 2009 9:58 pm
by MyNameIsKooky
Okay! I'll start the list! (Try to put it in hexadecimal order and add to this list by copy and paste and make the ones you add in bold.)
If this gets long enough we could make a new topic with this list in it then we could get a sticky on it!
One quick hex question for you: The object hex numbers always come after a few 0's most of the time, right? Are the 0's for value and behavior, or what? Could you tell me what the three numbers after the object number means?
Anyways, here goes...
2C 02 - Appears as an empty tile. Acts like a conveyor that is facing up.
2D 01 - Appears as an empty tile. Acts like water.
C8 01 - Appears as an empty tile. Kills you when you step on it.
