Something tells me the watchtower is too high up.

The full solution (I will post it when someone needs it) has only 4 steps. But now I have said that it sounds easy... I find it tricky.

I have to admit, I couldn't figure out the opening on the first level for love nor money. I knew what I thought had to be done but absolutely nothing I tried worked.

Hopefully I'll have better luck with this version.

edit: Nope, no better luck with this one than the first one.

Here is the starting moves (cut out from the full walk-through). I thought you'd like those green spheres...*sarcastic*

1. Go D then when the nearest canon shoots, go LLLRDDDULL (make sure the box doesn't get destroyed).

I couldn't do anything either for a long time. I had figured out the moves in your spoiler, but I thought that was wrong. So after you posted I gave it another try and finally I could reach the exit. Indeed a challenging level. Thanks!

Edit: When I was still stuck I had already uploaded this screenshot of the moment directly after your hint. Maybe it's useful.

Finally got it, I had the start before the hint, it was the covering the last two buttons that was giving me the trouble.
I finally got the sequence for that sorted and was making my way down to the exit.

I was doing the intial set-up close to what you wanted but I kept trying something else with the box. Once I realized it's purpose things started to come together for me. Covering the pink and yellow was very clever.

Here is the full solution encase anyone needs it.

1. Go D then when the nearest canon shoots, go LLLRDDDULL (make sure the box doesn't get destroyed) then go RUULDUUURDDLRLLDDLDD.

2. Wait until the chomper is R 2 of you, then quickly go DUUURRURRR, then when the canon shoots, quickly go RRRRUU.

3. Push the keg LURRR, then when the canon shoots, push the keg RRRR, now go LLL, then when the canon shoots go RRRR.

4. Next go URULLLLLLRDDL then when a link sphere goes into the the water go DDR, then wait until the pink button is pressed, then go D until you reach the exit.
