New Level -- Memory Lane

Redesigned for extra challenge, this is a nostalgia trip to one of my older levels... Can you find which one?

This one is much harder than the original, though. Hinges on a trick that I did not find before, but which is still possible in the original and allowed you to do some pretty interesting things...

There were also some really silly problems in the original level, such as a missing exit gate that made the rainbow coin perfectly useless. Those problems are now corrected.

EDIT: Apologies to the first two downloaders -- uploaded the wrong version, please redownload.

The correct version does not change much, only fixes a small shortcut in the reflector room by adding an extra bridgetile. The correct version has 2 rainbow coins.

EDIT 2: Mark has found a potential way to save an item through cleverness -- however that did simplify some aspects of the level. It's neat enough, so I'm not removing the older version... but do try version "A" as well.

So far the only thing I can do is going to the right area, but I don't see a way to destroy the boulder on the icecurve and fill the water at the bottom yet.

The level looks familiar, but I can't find the original, although I'm pretty sure I played it. Will you please tell me which one it is?

I'll just have you know that Mark, although he did not solve the level so far (I've sent him the explanation for the little trick that makes the level possible) has found a way to save one item by being clever. It's a neat trick but it simplified some other aspects of the level... so yeah. Once again I will probably have to do a revised version. When writing a PM for Mark, I thought it was really simple, but I just realized how to pull off Mark's idea after the planned change too... so I will have to think more.

It still does not change the main trick of the level, however, which is its hardest part. So... in the meantime, feel free to try this one, just know the revised version will be a bit more polished.

The original level, for those who are curious, is:
"Easy Going", MUZ033.LV6

I don't know if I finished that original level, but I'm pretty sure I tried to play it, and also that I posted on its topic on the forum. Also the title looks very familiar. Now I can't find it anywhere, not on my own computer, not in the zipfile from the nutters-site and not on the forum. :?

Will you please give the link or PM it to me?

Strange, since typing the level name in the search box, "Muzozavr" as the user name and setting the board to "Puzzle/Action levels" I had two pages of results. It was one of the last ones on page 2.

The link is here: http://pcpuzzle.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=11068

Note that some of the hints about the original level no longer apply to "Memory Lane".

Thanks. Apparantly I did not respond on it as I thought, so I was searching at the wrong place. But I had played the level because I had a gold star. Not sure if I'm able to finish the new one though.

I can't figure out how to do the first move, even with your help. Wish I were as clever as you. :D

I just PMed you the more exact instructions, but I don't think there's a real problem with it. As long as you do it fast enough, you're likely to get the timing right completely automatically.

Is there a way to get Stinky and Loof free from the first area, without using all of those 2 boulders and 2 barrels there? If so, then I would like instuctions too, since I'm not that fast, and with the right timing either.

Sent you a PM... which is the last thing I'm doing today, for I'm going to sleep now.

Ok, sleep well. Thanks for the PM. I would never have figured out myself, and I could do it once with the old level but not with the new one.

I tried several times and just can't get it. Sorry Muz, I'm just not fast enough.

Don't worry Mark, you're not the only one.

Muzo, perhaps it's an idea if you also post an easy version without that tricky move. :)

For an easier version, you may want to replace the purple cannons with slower ones. "2" (like now) is OK but "3" will be easier. Then, you'll have plenty of time... and try pushing it at various moments. Earlier, later, whatever. Eventually it will work.

Thanks, that worked. I can play the normal version now with the "3" cannons.
I found two little different ways to do the bottom-left part, and in both situations I could save an item, but I didn't find a way to get the coin in the goob, in the "A" version. Am I supposed to do that with

a. the z-bot?
b. cannon and \ reflector? (that's actually the one which I can not save)
c. something else?

The z-bot. Try to figure out the rest of the level now.

You can only save ONE item in the bottom left section. I intended it to be the cannon, but there is also a way to save the reflector instead of the cannon... but not both at the same time.

It doesn't change the rest of the solution though, you can save one item in there and that's it. That item goes in the most obvious place, it doesn't matter which one it is.

I needed that PM for the start, very clever, then lots of teamwork to make it to the end. :D

Thanks for the help and the level Muzo...good fun!

It turned out that I wasn't thinking very well. Because the goob was at a different place, I thought that I had to play a different way.

After all I could play the "A" version the same way as the normal version. (well with both version made the pink cannons a bit slower.)

Thanks! :D
