Bug?

I downloaded the WA editor to start making my first custom adventure and...

I CANT GET TO THE MAIN MENU!!!

I open the editor and it goes straight to the level choosing section (where you create new adventures or choose an old one to edit)!
Have I missed something huge? Or is it a massive glitch?

Isn't that supposed to happen?
The level selection IS the main menu.

Explain more...

The tutorials on midnight synergy say there should be a main menu, where you can reach the master and dialogue editors, how do you reach them???

I have windows XP and no MAV is happening
I think I'm missing something obvious...

Yeah, right atop that selection area is the line that says "Type in the name of your adventure" With space for you to type it in. After you type it in and press space, it takes you to that menu.

UMMMM..........

I type in the name of an adventure and the screen where you select:
winning conditions, starting coordinates, custom icons, adventure name, introductory text, and save/compile level.

Nothing to do with master editing and dialogue.

Wait, what master editing are you talking about?

I don't know which master editor. Look at the first tutorial of the WA editor on midnight synergy and see for yourself.
What I REALLY need is the dialogue editor, but I think you all know which dialogue editor I'm talking about.

yep! :)
functions.
1.closes dia. after finishing it
2.continues the dia.
3.Starts askabout
4.starts coin function. (If you have the no. of coins, You'll pass to the next next Int. If not, then only the next int.
5.starts item function (same as coin.)

Data.
is the int. no.
sometimes it can be the ID of an item (only active in func. 5)
Or number of coins (Func. 4)

Data1. Usually the ID of an object, It's only active if there's a cmd. (read the references in the MS's tuturial)
Data2. Sometimes is the Int.
data3. sometimes with the behavior of the NPC
data4. Movement type.

You need to learn more, I might not help enough :(

Thanks for all the imformation on the dialogue editor, but where IS the dialogue editor!
Just tell me how you find it!

It's the numbers on the side of the master editor (the one with the winnng conditions, etc.)

EDIT: More clearly, the rightmost column of numbers.

I was in the same boat as you yot yot5, the tutorials are from an older edition of the editor where dialog and level editing were done in seperate windows.

Also, sorry about the problem. Please use the unofficial guide (which needs to be stickied).

Another question...

Is there a MOFI update thingy?
(a way to use floing and pow, tentacles etc)

POW Is there, but Kinda different.
Floing In our Editor is the CRIMSON magic, So-called bounce.
The rest MOFI Objects causes...

MAV! :)

It's a little hard to explain. I suggest you get a little more advanced before messing with MOFI.
Also, use the official bug thread next time, please.

Though this is more of a help topic than a bug, so...

Anyways, you can download the MOFI player. Don't, however, if you want anybody to play your adventures.

Oh, and as for hubs, don't start working on them until you have quite a few adventures for regular WA behind your belt. And be working on other adventures at the same time. Nothing can kill any popularity you have faster than stopping work on everything else and then canceling the hub or restarting it repeatedly.

I guess your right...

I should stop asking for help with difficult stuff and just get on with the WA editor!

New adventure coming soon!

This was my old help topic, and I would like to ask another question.
I know all about commands and NPC moves etc, but I can't figure out how to open/close gates with a command. They don't have ID as far as I can see...
Can anyone help???

Posted: Fri Jan 20, 2012 6:02 pm
by MyNameIsKooky
The ID of a gate is 500+(5*color)+subcolor.

For instance, the ID of a gate with color 9 and subcolor 3 would be 548, because 500+(5*9)+3=548.

CMD 2 opens gates and CMD 1 closes them. Or you can just use handy dandy CMD 3 to toggle them.

Gottit.
I'm working on a BIG adventure, and I want my first to be above average. Start high, end higher (that's a random phrase I just invented)...

On some dialogues, you finish the instructions and when you talk to the NPC again he only repeats the last interchange.
How can you do something like that?

Posted: Sat Jan 21, 2012 9:22 pm
by Master Wonder Mage
FNC: 1
Data: # of interchange you want to be default from then on.
