Tribute Level - Three Blind Mice

This is an unreleased level I did two years ago.
One that my good friend Marinus tested for me.
I received an email from his sister today of his passing.
Here's a small tribute to a humble man and great genius.

Marinus...
You never acted like the queen bee, but you always were her for us.
And whatever you did, you did it as a true friend.
I'm very sad. Rest in peace.
---
Thanks for the information and the tribute level, Mark.
I miss Marinus P.

Thanks for the level Mark.
I've read most (but not all) of Marinus' post here in this forum,
and I shall miss his posts and ideas.
It's sad that he's gone.
On the bright side, we've got him captured here forever in this forum.

Thank you Mark for letting us know of Marinus' passing.
He was a great friend and level solver on the forum.
We'll miss him.
Your level, as usual, is a total enigma.
What a magical beginning.

(I don't have RTW on this computer, so any playing will have to come a lot later.)
WHAT!?!?!!
Damn. I'll miss him and his great mind. His thinking reminded me of my own, only better, more refined and detailed.
Damn, I'll really miss him.
Rest In Peace, Marinus.

With shock and sadness I hear about Marinus no longer being with us.
No longer in this physical universe, but his spirit still abides in Wonderland.
I will miss you.

As for the level, Mark, it was straight forward and much easier than your average. Thank you.

Hi Mark,
What a shock it was to hear of Marinus' death. Thank you for letting us know. And thank you for his picture, also.
Your level was a delightful tribute to Marinus. He was a constant help to me whenever I would get stuck.
I'm sorry for your loss, also.

That's very sad news Mark. Marinus was certainly a presence here on the board and I had been wondering why I hadn't been reading any of his comments of late.
I know he will be missed.
As to this level, I don't want to give anything away, but I probably used more items than I needed to. It was fun and a nice tribute.
Thank-you,
Three Blind Mice

Hi Annie, here is the opening move...
While Stinky stands just right of the curved ice, Qookie jumps left, and then jumps right and down to the fire walkway.

I had that part but I assumed it was wrong because I could not figure out how to get past that part so I thought that was wrong. I guess I need help with the next part after I have one jump down to the walkway. I just do not see what to do there.
Thanks
Annie

Sorry Annie, here's the next part...
Have Qookie extinguish two flames with the cubes to activate the cannon.

Oh -
that trick Mark! I was stuck in the same place as Annie.
Will try again.
EDIT:
That got me started Mark. Thanks for the hint.
I was falling for your trap of pushing the top block left into the water where there was no flame so the cannon didn't start.
After that I had loads of restarts trying not to get shot/eaten/boxed on the head/etc.
Thanks for the fun and the nice tribute to Marinus.

Hey Mark,
How does that cannon trick work? Is it something you do with the code?

No, altering the code would prevent the level from being opened in the editor. Both cannon tricks are accomplished by glitches in the game.
The first trick of the cannon sliding occurs when the Shadow Loof (inside the barrel) pushes it left. Since there is a barrier to the left of the cannon, the image becomes disassociated from the actual object. This occurs when the object pushed is inside of another object which is the barrier. I believe it has something to do with the way the game display refreshes on the screen from left to right. The cannon stops when the red chomper passes over the conveyor button.
The second trick where the cannon does not fire has to do with placing 25 or more flames in a level. I stumbled across this one back in my Brentnor days.

Thanks, Mark. I checked out the level in the editor so it makes sense to me. Now, remembering it is quite another thing

Great level Mark, I enjoyed figuring this one out.

The one thing I needed help with was the beginning though.

Well, a good level deserves a bump...
but it's not your job to be a censorship watchdog when it comes to matters like this. If you have the slightest bit of tact, I hope you'll understand
what I mean.
