The Mysterious Duck: Parts 1-8: Day of the Hatless

The ingenious philosopher Holden Caulfield once asked: "Where do the ducks go when the lake freezes over?" Why, they go back to their evil lairs, of course!

When you see a duck in a pond, do you think it's actually innocent? Think again! These ducks are plotting against you and THEY WILL DESTROY YOU as soon as you turn your back. This is the truth behind ducks.

The Mysterious Duck is a tennis between Master Wonder Mage and myself. It started back in the July of 2011 and was the first tennis to be created. It's also the largest tennis with 17 parts released as of the time of this post. However, all of these parts were created for the old editor and thus they don't work for the WA3E.

Thus, I took it upon myself to convert all of the parts of The Mysterious Duck to WA3E format. I also decided to revamp the parts and fix their many issues while I was at it. Some areas were completely redone while some others were tweaked and eased down. I also removed pretty much all of the notorious bridge and fire chains. Plus, I edited a lot of the dialogue to make it flow better and make more sense. Overall, the series has been made much more enjoyable during its conversion to WA3E.

Part 18 of The Mysterious Duck is coming out soon. Even if you've played the series before, I recommend replaying the series via these WA3E adventures to jog your memory of the story.

Right now, I'm releasing the first eight parts of The Mysterious Duck, which comprise its first story arc. I decided to split my WA3E conversions into two since parts 10 and onward have a ton of effort and custom content put into them; the first 9 parts are fairly mellow in comparison.

Master Wonder Mage and I are both working very hard on this series and we both hope you all enjoy playing it as much as we enjoy making it. :)

These adventures require the Deluxe Ducks textures.

Oh yeah, parts with titles that have "(MNIK)" on the end denotes adventures made by me. Parts with titles that have "(MWM)" on the end denotes adventures made by Master Wonder Mage.

Just finished it now. It was similar enough to the original for the nostalgiasense, but different enough to be more fun! :D
My common sense tells me that the rest will be even better, or else.

Hey, this was great! The new puzzles were a lot better than the stuff they replaced, it was a lot more fair, and it was fun to watch the first act of TMD take place again.

Ooh, I like the Brr/Floing/Blink puzzle in Part 3. Very clever! 8)

Having said that, dear god the race at the start. That was ridiculous

Ah, sorry about that. It ended up being quite a bit more difficult than I intended.

Just finished these 8 adventures.
Nice integration of POTZ features! The revamped adventures really have the WA3 feel :)

Although the very first race in the series was rather tedious, I liked how you managed to include the use of magic in the race. The entire outcome of the race rested on the reaction of the player after the freezing shot was fired.

Part 5. ARGH. It was so annoying and evil! The ducks and duckoids must all DIE!!!

For the Chomper race in Part 7, i didn't use any Brr charges at all. I guess I'm strange like that...
Also, for the Chomper race in Part 8, I think you forgot that

for Chompers ;)
(In other words that race was a piece of cake, which I'm extremely grateful for  )

Nothing too hard puzzle-wise. The last puzzle in Part 3 was really cool, though. I liked the way you made us use the Floing Brr and the Blink Brr trick. :D

I'll be anticipating the remaining 9 adventures! :D

While it was hard (I had to save right after freezing Hevic and work through the rest from there), I do think that this version was a lot better than the original, easy, and somewhat glitchy version.

Well, uh, killing the duckoids is the idea. But, I don't remember part 5 being particularly hard.

I realized that when playtesting it when I first released Part 8, but I decided to just leave it the way it was.

Yeah I used the same method as you. And I actually enjoyed that race because it was the first time I saw a race with magic.

I think Part 5 was annoying for me because the whole level involved running. That Duckoid race was plain evil :o

Thanks, I'm glad you're enjoying the series so far. :D

I apologize for the difficulty, but just remember that the original versions of each part were about 10 times harder and 100 times glitchier.

I realize conveyors are actually a lot like bridge chains after finishing these.

Yep. Auto-moving conveyors = canon bridge chains.

Well, I just got finished playing these

They're quite neat, actually; I wonder why I didn't play them sooner.

Thank you both very much! :D

I'm making a TMD Developer Commentary. Part 1 is out here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y8EE-TSsUzU

I'm not overly positive about the first few parts, mostly because I like how the Post-part-12 parts came out so much better. But hey.
